Book Damage Assessment in TiB2 Ceramic Armor Targets

Download or read book Damage Assessment in TiB2 Ceramic Armor Targets written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interaction between long rods and ceramics is only partially understood; however, this understanding is essential in the design of improved performance of impact-resistant materials and armor system design applications. The current work takes a preliminary look into the modem mythology surrounding the formation of radial cracking in ceramics during ballistic penetration. Tests were conducted using a 32-g tungsten alloy laboratory penetrator with a length to diameter ratio (L/D) = 20 at a nominal impact velocity of 1,600 m/s. Testing evaluated both prestressed and unstressed titanium diboride (TiB2) ceramic tiles. Evaluation of the damage included microstructural analysis using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with a Robinson backscatter detector for surface structure, the x-ray computed tomography (CT) nondestructive technique to completely scan the interior of each disk, and limited analytical modeling of the stress state.

Book Cyclotron Produced Radionuclides

Download or read book Cyclotron Produced Radionuclides written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Application of radioisotopes has shown significant growth in the past decade, and a major factor contributing towards this growth is the availability of a large number of cyclotrons dedicated to the production of radioisotopes for medical applications. Although there are many articles in journals on cyclotrons and their use for radioisotope production, there is no single source of information for beginners on radioisotope production using cyclotrons. This publication attempts to address this deficiency. Its contains chapters on accelerator technology, theoretical considerations of nuclear reactions, the technology behind targetry, techniques on preparation of targets, irradiation of targets under high beam currents, target processing and target recovery.

Book Fault Detection Diagnosis and Prognosis

Download or read book Fault Detection Diagnosis and Prognosis written by Fausto Pedro García Márquez and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-02-05 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the main concepts, state of the art, advances, and case studies of fault detection, diagnosis, and prognosis. This topic is a critical variable in industry to reach and maintain competitiveness. Therefore, proper management of the corrective, predictive, and preventive politics in any industry is required. This book complements other subdisciplines such as economics, finance, marketing, decision and risk analysis, engineering, etc. The book presents real case studies in multiple disciplines. It considers the main topics using prognostic and subdiscipline techniques. It is essential to link these topics with the areas of finance, scheduling, resources, downtime, etc. to increase productivity, profitability, maintainability, reliability, safety, and availability, and reduce costs and downtime. Advances in mathematics, modeling, computational techniques, dynamic analysis, etc. are employed analytically. Computational techniques, dynamic analysis, probabilistic methods, and mathematical optimization techniques are expertly blended to support the analysis of prognostic problems with defined constraints and requirements. The book is intended for graduate students and professionals in industrial engineering, business administration, industrial organization, operations management, applied microeconomics, and the decisions sciences, either studying maintenance or needing to solve large, specific, and complex maintenance management problems as part of their jobs. The work will also be of interest to researches from academia.

Book Soil Fertility and Nutrient Management

Download or read book Soil Fertility and Nutrient Management written by Roma Doshi and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soil fertility refers to the ability of a soil to supply plant nutrients. Bioavailable phosphorus is the element in soil that is most often lacking. Nitrogen and potassium are also needed in substantial amounts. For this reason these three elements are always identified on a commercial fertilizer analysis. For example a 10-10-15 fertilizer has 10 percent nitrogen. Inorganic fertilizers are generally less expensive and have higher concentrations of nutrients than organic fertilizers. Also, since nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium generally must be in the inorganic forms to be taken up by plants, inorganic fertilizers are generally immediately bioavailable to plants without modification. However, some have criticized the use of inorganic fertilizers, claiming that the water-soluble nitrogen doesn't provide for the long-term needs of the plant and creates water pollution.
