Book War Dogs of the World War

Download or read book War Dogs of the World War written by John I. Anderson and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2019-12-16 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1914, when France was pulled into the world war, dogs of all breeds and characteristics were assembled at the Refuge in Neuilly. A systematic training school was arranged to fit these dogs for war work, some for the Red Cross, some for trench work, and others to become messengers carrying essential papers and light burdens. It was necessary to train a dog for each division of this work, and after this was done, the work became one of routine and practice. Six hundred dogs were thus instructed for their various war duties and sent to the front. This is a brilliant work about the different dogs that served as War Dogs in the French army. The author writes of the loyalty, service, and friendliness of man's best friends, dogs.

Book War Police and Watch Dogs Classic Reprint

Download or read book War Police and Watch Dogs Classic Reprint written by Edwin Heautonville Richardson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-07-27 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from War, Police, and Watch Dogs IN writing these pages I have been actuated by a desire to lay before the public certain aspects in which the dog is fitted to perform invaluable services for man. While being anxious to show what the dog can do, I wish also to state plainly what he cannot do. In connection with police and ambulance dogs, a great deal has been written that is either greatly exaggerated or else totally untrue. I have therefore been extremely careful to adhere to what I have seen and proved to be actual facts during my years of training experience, and also in my investigations abroad. I send out this book with the earnest desire that it may win many friends for one Of God's noblest creations - the Dog. Book War Dogs Churchill and Rufus

Download or read book War Dogs Churchill and Rufus written by Kathryn Selbert and published by Triangle Interactive, Inc. . This book was released on 2018-03-29 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Read Along or Enhanced eBook: Winston Churchill, the prime minister of England during World War II, was one of the greatest wartime leaders of the modern era. While he is often likened to the English bulldog due to his tenacious personality and even his physical resemblance to the breed, Mr. Churchill was actually a devoted poodle owner and held quite an affinity for his miniature poodle, Rufus, who withstood the trials of World War II by his owner’s side. Readers follow Rufus and Winston’s friendship through major events in World War II—from the bombings of London and the invasion of Normandy to post-war reconstruction. Secondary text includes quotes from Churchill himself—taken from his rousing speeches to the people of England and to the world. Backmatter includes a timeline of World War II, an author’s note about Churchill’s pets, as well as a short biography, quote sources, and a list of recommended resources for further study. In her debut picture book, Kathryn Selbert has created a unique look at a significant historical figure and period in world history.
