Book Full Moon above the Vosges

Download or read book Full Moon above the Vosges written by Cosmin Stefan Georgescu and published by Europa Edizioni. This book was released on 2021-12-31 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full-Moon above the Vosges gives us a dynamic perspective of human life, which unfolds through growth and change. Starting with adolescence, we move on to the events that most mark a man during his growth and maturation. Historical and classical anecdotes give us a perspective of the Earth and humanity through the eyes of the author. The world of personal characters from the author’s life is combined with that of classical and historical culture to which each of us can refer. The work is a perfect blend of personal and collective events that intertwine to narrate the author’s life and personal experiences. The reader is taken on a journey that begins with the writer’s childhood and passion for writing, moves on to his growth and medical career and culminates in his maturity, denoted by his reflections on man and his nature, while the common thread is the feeling of solitude that only the moon can give us. Cosmin Stefan Georgescu has been fascinated by words ever since his childhood, when he used to read and recite poems encouraged by his parents. Both of them being teachers, they were his first model during this early period of life. However, he later decided to become a doctor, graduating in 1997 from Carol Davila University of Medicine in Bucharest. During his career, he didn’t let down his passion, organizing cultural events and subscribing to the Society of Physician Writers in Romania. In 2015 he moved to France, where he has been living ever since. He published books in Romania, UK and France. He was awarded the Romanian “Sentimental Twilight” Prize in 2020 and the Critics’ Prize for his work Letters to God return to sender in 2021.

Book Nisei Soldiers In World War II The Campaign In The Vosges Mountains

Download or read book Nisei Soldiers In World War II The Campaign In The Vosges Mountains written by LCDR Joni L. Parker USN and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2015-11-06 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study is about the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II as it assisted VI Corps in the push through the Vosges Mountains in northern France. The 442nd RCT was composed mostly of Japanese-Americans, or Nisei, who volunteered to join the U.S. Army. Behind their contributions were U.S. government policies which precluded Japanese immigrants from citizenship and land ownership, and culminated in the relocation of more than 110,000 Japanese-Americans from the West Coast of the United States. This study briefly examines the Japanese in America, the formation of the 442nd RCT, and its exploits. Its involvement in the campaign through the Vosges Mountains began with its attachment to the 36th Infantry Division on 13 October and ended on 9 November 1944. This study examines the four battles during the campaign to take Bruyeres, Biffontaine, the Rescue of the “Lost Battalion,” and the follow-on mission. This study examines the combat and environmental conditions in the Vosges Mountains. It shows military decision-making from the corps level to regiment level and, in some cases, to company level. It provides a balanced review of events to promote historical accuracy.
