Book Adaptive Compensation of Nonlinear Actuators for Flight Control Applications

Download or read book Adaptive Compensation of Nonlinear Actuators for Flight Control Applications written by Dipankar Deb and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-07-22 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a basic understanding of adaptive control and its applications in Flight control. It discusses the designing of an adaptive feedback control system and analyzes this for flight control of linear and nonlinear aircraft models using synthetic jet actuators. It also discusses control methodologies and the application of control techniques which will help practicing flight control and active flow control researchers. It also covers modelling and control designs which will also benefit researchers from the background of fluid mechanics and health management of actuation systems. The unique feature of this book is characterization of synthetic jet actuator nonlinearities over a wide range of angles of attack, an adaptive compensation scheme for such nonlinearities, and a systematic framework for feedback control of aircraft dynamics with synthetic jet actuators.

Book IUTAM Symposium on Flow Control and MEMS

Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Flow Control and MEMS written by Jonathan F. Morrison and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-09-09 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Symposium brought together many of the world’s experts in fluid mechanics, microfabrication and control theory to discover the synergy that can lead to real advances and perhaps find ways in which collaborative projects may proceed. The high profile meeting was attended by keynote speakers who are leaders in their fields. A key driver was the improvement in flow efficiency to reduce drag, and thereby emissions arising from transport. About 65 papers were presented.

Book Predicted Aerodynamic Characteristics of a NACA 0015 Airfoil Having a 25 Integral Type Trailing Edge Flap

Download or read book Predicted Aerodynamic Characteristics of a NACA 0015 Airfoil Having a 25 Integral Type Trailing Edge Flap written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-06-13 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using the two-dimensional ARC2D Navier-Stokes flow solver analyses were conducted to predict the sectional aerodynamic characteristics of the flapped NACA-0015 airfoil section. To facilitate the analyses and the generation of the computational grids, the airfoil with the deflected trailing edge flap was treated as a single element airfoil with no allowance for a gap between the flap's leading edge and the base of the forward portion of the airfoil. Generation of the O-type computational grids was accomplished using the HYGRID hyperbolic grid generation program. Results were obtained for a wide range of Mach numbers, angles of attack and flap deflections. The predicted sectional lift, drag and pitching moment values for the airfoil were then cast in tabular format (C81) to be used in lifting-line helicopter rotor aerodynamic performance calculations. Similar were also generated for the flap. Mathematical expressions providing the variation of the sectional lift and pitching moment coefficients for the airfoil and for the flap as a function of flap chord length and flap deflection angle were derived within the context of thin airfoil theory. The airfoil's sectional drag coefficient were derived using the ARC2D drag predictions for equivalent two dimensional flow conditions.
