Book The Busy Woman s Guidebook to Vibrant Vitality

Download or read book The Busy Woman s Guidebook to Vibrant Vitality written by Simona Hadjigeorgalis and published by Sivantage. This book was released on 2015-09-12 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we are really busy, the kind of busy that makes us feel like self-care is a luxury that couldn't possibly fit on the to-do list, we need fast (and body-loving!) solutions.Imagine having more energy and more time for the things that bring you the most joy and vitality. What would that look like? What would that feel like? Would you hop out of bed every morning without an alarm? Who would you be spending your extra time with? Are you up for inviting more vitality into your life?Incorporating the right tiny routines and techniques into your life can make a really big difference in how much energy you have. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. When our lives are really busy and we experience modern stress, if we don't communicate to our bodies that we are safe, then our bodies divert our internal resources as if we were in mortal danger. The way that shows up can be having less energy, less patience, less resourcefulness, and maybe even holding onto a few stubborn and unwanted pounds. The key is knowing which techniques can have the most impact. Let's honor the fact that we are busy, and then focus on how to make the most of whatever moments we do have. It can be challenging to prioritize our self-care when we have so many other things that demand attention. The irony is if we don't prioritize our wellness, we won't have the energy we need to thrive. The Busy Woman's Guidebook to Vibrant Vitality is designed knowing how busy you can get. The information in this book is designed to be bite-sized and designed to work around your schedule. Learn how to amplify vitality and eliminate wellness blockers so you can transform BUSY into full and VIBRANT.

Download or read book Vibrant Matter written by Jane Bennett and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2010-01-04 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Vibrant Matter the political theorist Jane Bennett, renowned for her work on nature, ethics, and affect, shifts her focus from the human experience of things to things themselves. Bennett argues that political theory needs to do a better job of recognizing the active participation of nonhuman forces in events. Toward that end, she theorizes a “vital materiality” that runs through and across bodies, both human and nonhuman. Bennett explores how political analyses of public events might change were we to acknowledge that agency always emerges as the effect of ad hoc configurations of human and nonhuman forces. She suggests that recognizing that agency is distributed this way, and is not solely the province of humans, might spur the cultivation of a more responsible, ecologically sound politics: a politics less devoted to blaming and condemning individuals than to discerning the web of forces affecting situations and events. Bennett examines the political and theoretical implications of vital materialism through extended discussions of commonplace things and physical phenomena including stem cells, fish oils, electricity, metal, and trash. She reflects on the vital power of material formations such as landfills, which generate lively streams of chemicals, and omega-3 fatty acids, which can transform brain chemistry and mood. Along the way, she engages with the concepts and claims of Spinoza, Nietzsche, Thoreau, Darwin, Adorno, and Deleuze, disclosing a long history of thinking about vibrant matter in Western philosophy, including attempts by Kant, Bergson, and the embryologist Hans Driesch to name the “vital force” inherent in material forms. Bennett concludes by sketching the contours of a “green materialist” ecophilosophy.

Book excerpt: Daphne du Maurier: Writing, Identity and the Gothic Imagination is the first full-length evaluation of du Maurier's fiction and the first critical study of du Maurier as a Gothic writer. Horner and Zlosnik argue that the fears at the heart of du Maurier's Gothic fictions reflect both personal and broader cultural anxieties concerning sexual and social identity. Using the most recent work in Gothic and gender studies they enter the current debate on the nature of Female Gothic and raise questions about du Maurier's relationship to such a tradition.

Download or read book Islands of Experience written by Dean Nichols and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2004-09-24 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Islands of Experience' is an exceptional collection of poetry. It carries a punch that all readers will feel, yet its power is tempered by subtlety and delicacy of language that will make readers linger over each line. The words themselves are simple, yet deep enough to challenge the profound thinker. They render to simple things an awe-inspiring grandeur and reduce the enormous to almost nothing. Many of these poems deal with Alaskan scenes. Here is an excerpt from Snowbound: Softly, silently, stealthily now, the soft snow steals away the freedom of travel the sourdough knew on the trails of the summer day. Warm in his cabin, snug in the snow, it's here that peace is found. It's here that the cares of the world are gone. Who cares if he is snowbound? Looking back on a full and varied life, Dean Nichols casts a discerning eye on the tangibles and intangibles of existence. In this except from The End? he touches upon one of life's crucial questions: Ah, so 'tis happiness you seek, my friend; is that your goal? Take care, lest on its placid sea you strike a shoal that pinions you and holds you fast, so that for you there is no future, only past. Vital, energetic, yet serene, Dean Nichols' poems challenge the reader to look around him and within him. The author comments, I would not ask you to share with me the mainland of my life; for who has half a century to spare? But I invite you to share with me a few of these islands of experience and through them catch a glimpse of an untraveled world.

  • ISBN : 1743327404
  • Pages : 197 pages

Download or read book Enter the Animal written by Teya Brooks Pribac and published by Sydney University Press. This book was released on 2021-02-01 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historically, grief and spirituality have been jealously guarded as uniquely human experiences. Although non-human animal grief has been acknowledged in recent times, its potency has not been recognised as equal to human grief. Anthropocentric philosophical questions still underpin both academic and popular discussions. In Enter the Animal, Teya Brooks Pribac examines what we do and don’t know about grief and spirituality. She explores the growing body of knowledge about attachment and loss and how they shape the lives of both human and non-human animals. A valuable addition to the vibrant interdisciplinary conversation about animal subjectivity, Enter the Animal identifies conceptual and methodological approaches that have contributed to the prejudice against nonhuman animals. It offers a compelling theoretical base for the consideration of grief and spirituality across species and highlights important ethical implications for how humans treat other animals.
