Book Open Bite Malocclusion

    Book Details:
  • Author : Guilherme Janson
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2013-10-29

Download or read book Open Bite Malocclusion written by Guilherme Janson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-10-29 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Open-Bite Malocclusion: Treatment and Stability presents the etiology, treatment, and its stability of anterior open bite malocclusion in the early, mixed, and permanent dentitions. Special emphasis is devoted to orthodontic treatment and its stability in the permanent dentition because this is the time when treatment of open bite presents greater relapse. Appropriate for clinicians, orthodontic residents, and dental students, Open-Bite Malocclusion covers the most simple treatment approaches to the most complex, from orthodontic devices to tooth extraction to surgery. Unique to this book is the discussion of post-treatment stability. Drs. Janson and Valarelli highlight the post-treatment changes and presents strategies to increase treatment stability. This allows the clinician to be able to predict the stability probabilities when treating anterior open bite malocclusions in the permanent dentition either with or without extraction, orthodontic-surgical therapy, or with occlusal adjustment.

Book Analysis of the Skeletal and Dental Changes Associated with Herbst Appliance Therapy

Download or read book Analysis of the Skeletal and Dental Changes Associated with Herbst Appliance Therapy written by Thomas M. Baldwin and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The overall goal of this research project is to evaluate the skeletal and dental changes when a Class II malocclusion is corrected using the Herbst appliances compared to similar malocclusions treated with Class II elastics; for the purposes of this study, this will be referred to as the control group. More specifically, cephalometric radiographs will be used to: (1) study the SNA, SNB, and ANB angle changes in Class II malocclusion patients who receive treatment with elastics or a Herbst appliance, (2) study the change in the lower incisor to the mandibular plane angle (IMPA), and compare the results with a control group of patients. Further, the pre-Herbst and post-Herbst measurements will be compared to determine if there is a significant change. The hypothesis will be that the Herbst appliance will cause a change in the SNA, SNB, and ANB angles, and alter the IMPA as compared to Class II correction with elastics.
