Book excerpt: The ?igveda is the first book of humankind and the most sacred scripture of Hinduism. It also happens to be the most ill-understood book of our times. Despite the extensive study by academic and religious scholars, the purpose and meaning of the ?igveda and many ancient Hindu scriptures remain unclear. In this pathbreaking book, the discovery of the ?igveda as a book of ancient cosmology is described, and related to the seals of ancient Indus Valley Civilization, thereby challenging our perception of humanity."The Vedas have always been lauded as containing the secrets of cosmogenesis. Raja Roy in his remarkable book shows how this is true not only from the yogic vison but according to the latest insights of modern physics. The book takes the reader on a vast panoramic journey through the universe of matter, mind and human history as well."David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri), Director, American Institute of Vedic Studies"Roy presents a new framework for the understanding of the Vedic hymns from the point of view of physics and then he draws parallels with recent theories on the nature of the universe. We celebrate the new path he has hewn through the bush of old scholarship."Professor Subhash Kak, Oklahoma State University

Book Science in Veda

Book excerpt: Vedas are considered as an ocean of knowledge. Every bit of Vedas is very important each stanza, each line, each word has a significant meaning to it. For the language also supports its purpose. It is said that Sanskrit is the only nearest language which could be used to explain or describe anything clearly and specifically. It is the only Vedic Dharma where religion and Science go in hand to hand. The Vedas contain in them the gems of all true sciences. The book Science in Veda deals with the combined approaches of modern science and ancient Vedic science. As we know that Indian Scriptures and Sanskrit literature is the storehouse of knowledge. As we go through this literature they have innumerable illustrations of Science, technology, arts, music, dance, environment, architecture, vehicles etc. The present book is an attempt to explore the knowledge of science, penetrate the mystery of the Vedas and to search out in them the various branches of Science. The book is divided into ten chapters describing the importance of water as described in our vedic literature.

Book The Celestial Key to the Vedas

Download or read book The Celestial Key to the Vedas written by B. G. Sidharth and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 1999-10-01 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A leading astronomer proves that India had a thriving civilization capable of sophisticated astronomy long before Greece, Egypt, or any other world culture. • Provides conclusive evidence that the Rig Veda is 12,000 years old. • Establishes actual dates and places for many of the events in the Hindu epics. For more than a century scholars have debated the antiquity of the Vedas and their related literature, the Brahmanas and Puranas. Relying upon a host of assumptions from linguistic theory, anthropology, and archaeology, they have agreed upon 1500 b.c. as the earliest possible date for the Rig Veda, itself the oldest extant example of Indo-European literature. But in this groundbreaking book, astronomer B. G. Sidharth proves conclusively that the earliest portions of the Rig Veda can be dated as far back as 10,000 b.c. By deciphering the astronomical events and alignments contained in mythical and symbolic form in these ancient texts, Sidharth calls into question many if not all of the assumptions governing Indo-European prehistory. He explores such subjects as the astronomical significance of many Hindu deities and myths, the system of lunar asterisms used to mark time, the identity of the Asvins, and the sophisticated calendar of the ancients that harmonized solar and lunar cycles. Sidharth provides incontrovertible evidence that such "advanced" astronomical concepts as precession, heliocentrism, and the eclipse cycle are encoded in these ancient texts, passages of which make perfect sense only if these astronomical keys are known. Based on internal evidence in the Mahabharata and Ramayana, he also becomes the first to establish likely dates--and even places--for the events described in these famous epics. The Celestial Key to the Vedas is sure to astonish anyone concerned with astronomy, India, or the roots of civilization.

Book Vedic Science and Pyramid Technology

Download or read book Vedic Science and Pyramid Technology written by Cristian Knopke and published by . This book was released on 2020-05-13 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Vedic Chants were declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2003 and added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. However, only very few people in Western cultures know that the Vedas are the origin of all world religions, and even less that they, as such, do not contain a faith but a science. The word Vedas translated from Sanskrit means "science", not "faith". The biggest problem in understanding this science, besides its enormous abundance of writings, for the study of which a normal human life is hardly sufficient, is that its scientific explanations can only be found encoded in mystical language. There is also no one who has a more understandable version of it, not even among the Brahmins in India, because the Vedas were given to humans at a time when they were not yet able to understand them in scientific language. The oldest swastika ever found (Mezine, Ukraine), symbol of Hinduism, gives us an idea of when that was: about 18,000 years ago, towards the end of the last ice age. Rishi Siddhartha, who has personally experienced the highest Brahman, has now succeeded in deciphering the Vedas for the first time ever, and his book is aimed at Veda students who are already familiar with the most important Vedic concepts and are keen to gain a scientific understanding of the like. It contains, in line with this objective, a physical treatise and therefore requires knowledge of physics at high school level, an excellent spatial imagination and high intelligence for understanding, because the scientific understanding of the Vedas is a mental quantum leap from the current materialistic science of our perceptible ,,relative reality" (Vedic designation) to the millennia-old science of the superimposed ,,absolute reality" of Brahman, which draws a completely different worldview that is far too complex and grand for a human being ever to come up with. An excerpt from this book appeared just a few weeks after its publication as leading article in the German Nexus Magazine (Issue No. 86) and triggered a wave of enthusiasm and amazement, because the millennia-old Vedas obviously contain the all-explanatory world formula (,,Theory of everything" = T.O.E.) that modern science is looking for. Accordingly, all phenomena of the material world consist of three different types of electromagnetic waves (Gunas) that are projected from outside into the universe and carried (as Prana) by the smallest units of space (Akasha) in synchronism with their integrated resonant circuits (Shabda) throughout the entire universe, to meet in phase in just one place (similar to a holography) and transform there into matter or living beings (Maya). The first part of this book contains a summary of all relevant scientific statements of the Vedas and reveals how the universe, matter and living beings came into existence and how they function. In the second part, the deciphered Vedic Science is applied to the pyramids and reveals virtuously their purpose and function! The fact that with pyramids the quantum flow (prana) can also be used as an inexhaustible source of energy is undoubtedly the most important side result at that. So much in advance: the sound of the OM, the most sacred mantra in Hinduism and Buddhism, plays a central role at that. It carries us to the Sea of Causes (Karanodak) outside the universe. There, the smallest units of space (Akasha) take on water-like properties and, thanks to their cluster intelligence, form an intelligent, living and autonomous organism ... Brahman ... the Cosmic Consciousness ... origin of all life and all matter!

Book excerpt: Evolution in general means a process of change or transformation. Evolution commonly used to refer to biological, genetic or organic evolution. Evolution is change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over successive generation. History of evolutionary theory refers to Overview, Renaissance, Before Darwin, Darwin, Origin of Species, Before synthesis, Modern synthesis, Molecular evolution, Evo-devo, Current research, History of speciation, History of paleontology, etc. Modern synthesis theory of evolution shed light on population genetics, genetic variation, natural selection, eclipse of Darwinism and non-Darwinian theories of evolution. Malthusian completion and variation lead to Natural selection.Mutation lead to Genetic variation and Mendelian inheritance. All these together ended in Modern synthesis. Vedic evolution refers to the philosophy and science of evolution according to Vedas. Hinduism sheds light of the Origin of life, creation and evolution based on Vedas, Brahmanas and Puranas. The Rigveda mentions the Hiranyagarbha (“golden embryo”) as the source of the Personal and Impersonal Universe, similar to the “world egg” motif found in the creation myths of many other civilizations. Hindus find support for evolution in scriptures. Dashavatara has similarities to Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. The Shatapatha Brahmana states that the current human generation descends from Manu, the only man who survived is comparable to the other flood legends, such as the story of the Noah’s Ark mentioned in the Bible and the Quran. Hindu Dharma believes in the evolution and involution of forms of lives according to Karma of individuals. In every form of species exists the soul that stands as eternal witness of thoughts of mind that becomes actions. Author of this book, exhibits his findings of serious research about “Evolution according to Vedas, in relation to that of contemporary modern synthesis theory of evolution, that the origin of man is time immemorial. The end of man is the climax of human evolution i.e., Suddha Prajne, i.e., Pure Consciousness, which is the embodiment of “Sat Chit Ananda i.e,. Eternal Truth – Eternal Knowledge – Eternal Bliss.” The book “Vedic Evolution : Its Philosophy and Science” may become a source book for finding solutions to Global Harmony, Happiness and Peace. Human life lead naturally leads to Pure Consciousness.Vedic Evolution is the evolution of human life from: “Falsity to Truth; from Ignorance to Wisdom; from Death to Immortality.” Vedic message to humanity is: “O Man, you have to live hundred years, evolving healthily-happily and spiritually, until you become one with THAT SUPREME PURE CONSCIOUSNESS WHICH IS ALL PERVASIVE, BOTH IN THE SEEN AND UNSEEN COSMIC EGG OR BRAHMANADA.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume on Vedic Physics by Keshav Dev Verma is indeed a unique attempt to interpret the ancient Indian literature by defining various symbols, concepts and terminology occurring in Vedic hymns and other texts. While accepting Maharsi Dayananda's view that Vedas are the repository of all true sciences, the author does examine this statement with a view to test it on the hard rock of truth. Shri Verma has selected the Sankhya-Patanjala system that explains the physical world (Universe) on the basis of Cosmic evolution; the Vaisesika-Nyaya expounds the methodology and elaborates the concepts of physics, chemistry and mechanics. Shri Verma has very systematically tried to interpret the Sankhya aphorisms and concludes that the ultimate ground to which the manifested world can be traced is Prakrti having three attributes-Sattva (existence), energy at rest or Rajas (energy that which is efficient in a phenomenon and is characterised by a tendency to move and overcome any resistance) and Tamas (mass or inertia) which resists the Rajas to do work and also resists Sattva from conscious manifestation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern Science has only recently stumbled upon the truth that the underlying cause for existence is the realisation of Universal Consciousness. Whether it is the contribution of physics, biology, medicine, neurobiology, psychology or other branches of science, the ongoing efforts are entirely an attempt to understand this universal consciousness. However, these ideas are not new: and they have their roots in the Rig Veda, the world’s first book. It deals with Consciousness in entirety. Compiled by the Angirasa Rishis, the Rig Veda is an exposition of the route one can follow to successfully merge the Individual Consciousness and the Universal Consciousness. Gleanings from Rig Veda are an attempt to cull out these transient understandings from centuries ago.

Book excerpt: The idea that the universe was created by God often meets hostile opposition from proponents of rationality and science because unlike science that creates empirical laws, religious theories seem to make no verifiable predictions. But in Vedic Creationism, author Ashish K. Dalela shows that a personal theistic account of creation given in the Vedas has radical implications for the study of matter and questions of creation, including new verifiable predictions based upon a different conception of reality. An expansive examination of the meaning of the universe by comparing and contrasting varying philosophical vantages, Vedic Creationism covers the journey from Vedic notions on God's personality and conscious mind to the implication these ideas have for the origins of life and the attainment of quantum gravity. Dalela relates the ideas in Vedic philosophy with the current state of affairs in modern science including the mind-body problem, the unification of quantum and relativity theories, and the question of evolution and origins of life. Presenting new, forward-looking ideas, Vedic Creationism will help put the age-old wisdom of Vedas in a modern light and open new areas of dialogue.

Download or read book The Limits of Scripture written by Anantanand Rambachan and published by University of Hawaii Press. This book was released on 1994-01-01 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Hailed as one of modern India's cultural heroes, Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) has been credited not only with interpreting Hinduism to the west but with interpreting it to India itself. Despite his pervasive influence, critical assessments and attempts to "demythologize" Vivekananda have been rare, and rarer still are historical and hermeneutical clarification of his work. The Limits of Scripture offers a close examination of Vivekananda's understanding of the authority of sruiti (the Vedas) and its relationship to anubhava (personal experience)." "Beginning with an analysis of western influences and Hindu responses in the nineteenth century, Anantanand Rambachan moves on to a careful explication of Vivekananda's understanding of the Vedas, the nature and scope of their authority, and the hermeneutical principles employed by him in his approach to the texts. Throughout the discussion, the author also clarifies the generally overlooked distinctions between Vivekananda's view of anubhava as the source of liberating knowledge and that of Sankara (ca. 788-820), the principal systematizer and exponent of the Advaita tradition, who argued for the Vedas as the authoritative source of this knowledge. The task of critically distinguishing Sankara and Vivekananda has not been thoroughly accomplished elsewhere and is crucial for understanding religious and philosophical change in modern Indian thought." "In addition this work evaluates the coherence and consistency of Vivekananda's reinterpretations, drawing attention to important problems in his claim for the supremacy of personal experience, his arguments for "many paths to the same goal," and his attempts to reconcile the insights of Hinduism with the methods and findings of science. In undertaking this assessment and analysis, The Limits of Scripture makes a real contribution to the understanding of Vivekananda's legacy, Indian religions, and the wider study of religion."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
