Book Summary of Recent Work on Variables Acceptance Sampling with Emphasis on Non normality

Download or read book Summary of Recent Work on Variables Acceptance Sampling with Emphasis on Non normality written by Donald B. Owen and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acceptance sampling plans based on the normal distribution have been available since 1955 and before. Yet reports of potential users indicate a general lack of enthusiasm for their application. There is the uncertainty of the assumption of the normal distribution, but the difficulties users have encountered are attributable more to the translation from the standardized deviate to proportion defective than with the probabilities involved. Some possible ways of adjusting for this are discussed. Sampling plans for truncated life tests based on the exponential, normal, lognormal, gamma, Weibull, etc., distributions are also available, as are distribution-free life test plans based on increasing or decreasing failure rate distributions. These are extremely useful and further extensions of these ideas are in the offing. For the normal distribution, plans have been devised which control each tail of the distribution to separate levels. These plans are useful in the very common situation where defectiveness measured on the high side has one kind of effect while defectiveness on the low side has another kind of effect. Again questions on the appropriateness of the normality assumption are raised. A discussion of various ways of meeting this assumption is given. (Author).

Book Design of Variable Sampling Plan for Pareto Distribution Using Neutrosophic Statistical Interval Method

Download or read book Design of Variable Sampling Plan for Pareto Distribution Using Neutrosophic Statistical Interval Method written by Muhammad Aslam and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sampling plans have been widely used for the inspection of a lot of the product. In practice, the measurement data may be imprecise, uncertain, unclear or fuzzy. When there is uncertainty in the observations, the sampling plans designed using classical statistics cannot be applied for the inspection of a lot of the product.

Book Frontiers in Statistical Quality Control 11

Download or read book Frontiers in Statistical Quality Control 11 written by Sven Knoth and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-04-24 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main focus of this edited volume is on three major areas of statistical quality control: statistical process control (SPC), acceptance sampling and design of experiments. The majority of the papers deal with statistical process control, while acceptance sampling and design of experiments are also treated to a lesser extent. The book is organized into four thematic parts, with Part I addressing statistical process control. Part II is devoted to acceptance sampling. Part III covers the design of experiments, while Part IV discusses related fields. The twenty-three papers in this volume stem from The 11th International Workshop on Intelligent Statistical Quality Control, which was held in Sydney, Australia from August 20 to August 23, 2013. The event was hosted by Professor Ross Sparks, CSIRO Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics, North Ryde, Australia and was jointly organized by Professors S. Knoth, W. Schmid and Ross Sparks. The papers presented here were carefully selected and reviewed by the scientific program committee, before being revised and adapted for this volume.

Book Applied Statistics Research Progress

Download or read book Applied Statistics Research Progress written by Mohammad Ahsanullah and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2008 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computers have taken a permanent place in almost every human endeavor in the last 20 years. This infiltration requires a learning process on the part of the people utilizing them and realizing where and how computers can be best used beyond the basic and obvious applications. Statistics is an example of their application in many diverse fields to reach conclusions and make projections never before possible. Beyond this, applied statistics is rapidly becoming not only an instrument, but an integral part of the advance of knowledge. There are many fields such as medicine, biology, weather prediction, military planning, and numerous others where the statistical studies are essential before the next step can be taken. This new book presents the latest research in the field from around the globe.

Book Testing Statistical Assumptions in Research

Download or read book Testing Statistical Assumptions in Research written by J. P. Verma and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-04-02 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensively teaches the basics of testing statistical assumptions in research and the importance in doing so This book facilitates researchers in checking the assumptions of statistical tests used in their research by focusing on the importance of checking assumptions in using statistical methods, showing them how to check assumptions, and explaining what to do if assumptions are not met. Testing Statistical Assumptions in Research discusses the concepts of hypothesis testing and statistical errors in detail, as well as the concepts of power, sample size, and effect size. It introduces SPSS functionality and shows how to segregate data, draw random samples, file split, and create variables automatically. It then goes on to cover different assumptions required in survey studies, and the importance of designing surveys in reporting the efficient findings. The book provides various parametric tests and the related assumptions and shows the procedures for testing these assumptions using SPSS software. To motivate readers to use assumptions, it includes many situations where violation of assumptions affects the findings. Assumptions required for different non-parametric tests such as Chi-square, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal Wallis, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test are also discussed. Finally, it looks at assumptions in non-parametric correlations, such as bi-serial correlation, tetrachoric correlation, and phi coefficient. An excellent reference for graduate students and research scholars of any discipline in testing assumptions of statistical tests before using them in their research study Shows readers the adverse effect of violating the assumptions on findings by means of various illustrations Describes different assumptions associated with different statistical tests commonly used by research scholars Contains examples using SPSS, which helps facilitate readers to understand the procedure involved in testing assumptions Looks at commonly used assumptions in statistical tests, such as z, t and F tests, ANOVA, correlation, and regression analysis Testing Statistical Assumptions in Research is a valuable resource for graduate students of any discipline who write thesis or dissertation for empirical studies in their course works, as well as for data analysts.
