Book excerpt: Pour remplir leur mission de dépistage des troubles du langage écrit, les médecins généralistes d'un pôle de santé normand ont conçu une organisation permettant de proposer des consultations dédiées, au moyen de la Batterie Modulable de Tests informatisée (BMT-i), en collaboration avec les orthophonistes. Ce dispositif, qui s'adresse aux enfants scolarisés en CP et en CE1, intègre un repérage, une délégation de tâches et une orientation argumentée vers une prise en soin orthophonique. Notre travail consistait à participer à la conception et à la mise en œuvre de ce dispositif, puis à en évaluer la faisabilité et l'acceptabilité. Des questionnaires ont été adressés à tous les patients et intervenants et des entretiens semi-dirigés ont été réalisés auprès des professionnels de santé. Les résultats confirment la faisabilité du dispositif au sein du pôle de santé et son fort degré d'acceptabilité par les professionnels de santé et les parents des patients. La participation active de tous les médecins au-delà de l'action de repérage ne semble pas possible et la désignation d'un médecin formé, référent pour établir la synthèse des évaluations, serait plus pertinente. D'autres améliorations sont souhaitables : elles concernent la formation complémentaire des médecins, la revalorisation des consultations et l'information des parents sur la non-gratuité de ce dispositif. A l'issue de cette évaluation, le pôle de santé a adapté le dispositif. Un travail d'élargissement à d'autres classes d'âge ou à d'autres troubles reste à faire.

The present volume provides a review of learning assessments, their status in terms of the empirical knowledge base, and some new ideas for improving their effectiveness, particularly for those children most in need. It is argued here that SQC learning assessments have the potential to enhance educational accountability, increase transparency, and support a greater engagement of stakeholders with an interest in improving learning. In addition, countries need a sustained policy to guide assessment choices, including a focus on poor and marginalized populations.

Described as the biggest migration in human history, an estimated 250 million Chinese people have left their villages in recent decades to live and work in urban areas. Xinyuan Wang spent 15 months living among a community of these migrants in a small factory town in southeast China to track their use of social media. It was here she witnessed a second migration taking place: a movement from offline to online. As Wang argues, this is not simply a convenient analogy but represents the convergence of two phenomena as profound and consequential as each other, where the online world now provides a home for the migrant workers who feel otherwise ‘homeless’.
