Download or read book Management of Radioactive Waste written by Jean-Claude Amiard and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-09-22 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The classification of radioactive waste varies from state to state. This results in different management procedures for each country, while following IAEA and OECD/NEA recommendations. Radioactive waste comes from numerous sources. The largest volumes are generated by the decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear facilities. Long-lived, medium- and high-activity waste – categorized as the most hazardous types of waste – are in fact largely produced by nuclear power reactors, spent fuel reprocessing plants and nuclear accidents. Final disposal of very low-activity, low-activity and very short-lived waste is well controlled. However, final solutions for certain categories, including long-lived waste, sorted waste and spent graphite waste, are not yet in place. Management of Radioactive Waste reviews all the possible solutions and presents those chosen by the various states, including a chapter detailing policy on radioactive waste management, taking France as an example.

Download or read book Le risque radioactif Devenir des radionucl ides dans l environnement et impacts sur la sant written by AMIARD Jean-Claude and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-05-01 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Nuclear Economy 2 written by Jacques Percebois and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-01-18 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the factual, precise, complete and accessible economic elements of nuclear energy in order to contribute to an informed and dispassionate debate. It analyzes the economic aspects of spent fuel management, including the costs and financing of long-term storage and deep geological disposal. The economic costs of a nuclear accident are also discussed from both theoretical and applied angles, based on the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Nuclear Economy 2 also examines the industrial and political aspects of the future energy mix. Nuclear energy is thus placed in the more global context of the European electricity market. Finally, this book offers a panorama of energy scenarios on the scale of France, but also of the world.

Download or read book Proposed Evaluation Protocol for Cement based Solidified Wastes written by Canada. Environment Canada and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many processes were developed to chemically stabilize and solidify industrial wastes. This evaluation protocol is a decision-making tool for managing stabilized-solidified (S/S) wastes which could be used in a regulatory framework. For that purpose, the protocol is based on the measurement of several physical, engineering, and chemical properties of S/S wastes in order to evaluate different utilization and disposal scenarios. Several of the testing methods in the protocol were evaluated in a cooperative project with the industry initiated by Environment Canada; others are methods recommended by standards organizations in the fields of hazardous and radioactive wastes; and some properties of S/S wastes are measured using methods that are still in their development stage. The protocol evaluates both level 1, based on contaminant partitioning, and level 2, based on physical entrapment.
