Book User s Guide for Smokeview Version 5 a Tool for Visualizing Fire Dynamics Simulation Data NIST SP 1017 1

Download or read book User s Guide for Smokeview Version 5 a Tool for Visualizing Fire Dynamics Simulation Data NIST SP 1017 1 written by nist and published by . This book was released on 2014-01-15 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smokeview is a software tool designed to visualize numericalcalculations generated by fire models such as the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of fire-driven fluid flow or CFAST, a zone fire model. Smokeview visualizes smoke and other attributes of the fire using traditional scientific methods such as displaying tracer particle flow, 2D or 3D shaded contours of gas flow data such as temperature and flowvectors showing flow direction and magnitude. Smokeview also visualizes fire attributes realistically so that one can experience the fire. This is done by displaying a series of partially transparent planes where the transparencies in each plane (at each grid node) are determined from soot densities computed by FDS. Smokeview also visualizes static data at particular times again using 2Dor 3D contours of data such as temperature and flow vectors showing flow direction and magnitude. Smokeview and associated documentation for Windows, Linux and Mac/OSX may be downloaded from the web site http://fire . nist .gov/smokeview at no cost.

Book User s Guide for Smokeview Version 4 0 a Tool for Visualizing Fire Dynamics Simulation Data

Download or read book User s Guide for Smokeview Version 4 0 a Tool for Visualizing Fire Dynamics Simulation Data written by nist and published by . This book was released on 2014-01-15 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smokeview is a software tool designed to visualize numericalcalculations generated by the NIST Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of fire-driven fluid flow. These two tools are typically used together to respectively simulate and visualize the flow of smoke induced bya fire. Smokeview visualizes the smoke using traditional scientific methods such as displaying tracer particle flow, 2D or 3D shaded contours of gas flow data such as temperature and flow vectors showing flow direction and magnitude. Smokeview also visualizes smoke realistically so that one can experience the fire. This is done by displaying a series of partially transparent planes where the transparencies in each plane (at each grid node) are determined from soot densities computed by FDS. Smokeview also visualizes static data at particular times again using 2D or 3D contours of data such as temperature and flow vectors showing flow direction and magnitude. Examples of each visualization type are given.Windows PC versions ofSmokeview and FDS and associated documentation may be downloaded from the web site http://fire.nist.gov/smokeview at no cost. Versions for Linux and SGI/IRIX may also be downloaded from the same location.

Book Smokeview Version 6 a Tool for Visualizing Fire Dynamics Simulation Data Volume III Verification Guide

Download or read book Smokeview Version 6 a Tool for Visualizing Fire Dynamics Simulation Data Volume III Verification Guide written by Glenn P. Forney and published by . This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CFAST is a two-zone fire model capable of predicting theenvironment in a multi-compartment structure subjected to a fire. It calculates the time evolving distribution of smoke and fire gases and the temperature throughout a building during a user- prescribed fire. This report describes the equations which constitute the model, the physical basis for these equations, and an evaluation of the sensitivity and predictive capability of the model.
