Book Use of Target Spectrum for Detection Enhancement and Identification

Download or read book Use of Target Spectrum for Detection Enhancement and Identification written by S. Pardini and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The paper deals with modulation on the echo signal generated by rotating machinery of an air target. An extensive measurement campaign has been carried out by means of an Air Traffic Control radar and some preliminary results are presented. The problem of target spectra characterization and exploitation for detection enhancement and target identification, is considered in relation with the limitation imposed by the present radar features. Some considerations regarding the application of this technique for Non Cooperative Target Recognition, in the radar of future generation, are developed.

Book Target Identification and Detection Using LWIR Hyperpectral Signature Transformation of Multiple Missions Without Registration

Download or read book Target Identification and Detection Using LWIR Hyperpectral Signature Transformation of Multiple Missions Without Registration written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Changes in atmospheric conditions and sensor response for successive imaging sessions have limited the use of fixed target hyperspectral libraries, especially for multiple mission studies, to help identify and discriminate targets from cluttered backgrounds. The hyperspectral target signature instability has resulted in a dependence on anomaly detection algorithms in real time surveillance applications. These algorithms fail to meet some critical military requirements. This study examines a variety of mathematical transforms of the spectral signatures derived from missions flown on different days with starkly different weather conditions. The transforms use overlapping regions in the two data sets but avoid registering the image cubes. Some of the transforms use statistical features such as auto covariance matrices, means, and/or standard deviations of the image cubes. Other algorithms use spectral means taken from common features in the image cubes such as trees, roads, or blackbodies in both image cubes. Our study examines target spectra transformations in the long-wave infrared spectra of man-made targets and natural backgrounds obtained with the SEBASS (8-12 microns) imager as part of the Dark HORSE 2 exercise during the HYDRA data collection in November, 1998. This study computes the signal to clutter ratio (SCR) for transforms that required high accuracy registration, various spectral signature transformations that do not need any registration, and those transforms that used random, varying number of pixels in the overlap area. The transformed signatures were subsequently used in matched filter searches to successfully find targets with low false alarm rates (

Book Target Detection and Identification Using Canonical Correlations Analysis and Subspace Partitioning

Download or read book Target Detection and Identification Using Canonical Correlations Analysis and Subspace Partitioning written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a data-driven approach for target detection and identification based on a linear mixture model. Our aim is to determine the existence of certain targets in a mixture without specific information on the targets or the background, and to identify the targets from a given library. We use the maximum canonical correlation between the target set and the observations as the detection score, and use coefficients of the canonical vector to identify the indices of the present components from the given target library. The performance of the detector is enhanced using subspace partitioning on the target library. Both simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in Raman spectroscopy for detection of surface-deposited chemical agents.

Book Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

Download or read book Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy written by Marek Prochazka and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-12 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an overview of recent developments in RS and SERS for sensing and biosensing considering also limitations, possibilities and prospects of this technique. Raman scattering (RS) is a widely used vibrational technique providing highly specific molecular spectral patterns. A severe limitation for the application of this spectroscopic technique lies in the low cross section of RS. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy overcomes this problem by 6-11 orders of magnitude enhancement compared with the standard RS for molecules in the close vicinity of certain rough metal surfaces. Thus, SERS combines molecular fingerprint specificity with potential single-molecule sensitivity. Due to the recent development of new SERS-active substrates, labeling and derivatization chemistry as well as new instrumentations, SERS became a very promising tool for many varied applications, including bioanalytical studies and sensing. Both intrinsic and extrinsic SERS biosensing schemes have been employed to detect and identify small molecules, nucleic acids and proteins, and also for cellular and in vivo sensing.
