Book A Guide to Urinary Diseases Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Guide to Urinary Diseases Classic Reprint written by Adolphe Abrahams and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-11 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Guide to Urinary Diseases IN no branch of medicine more than in diseases of the urinary tract and disturbances of the act of micturition is greater difficulty experienced in the separation of medical from surgical conditions. For this reason the cc-operation of physician and surgeon in the prepara tion of this small work requires no justification. The aim of the authors has been primarily to assist the general practitioner in identifying a lesion from the symptoms which are present. Only such pathological details are included as can be strictly regarded as essential to this end; and whilst elementary clinical pathology has not been neglected, only the barest reference has been made to those methods of investi gation which demand the resources of a well-equipped laboratory and the technical skill of an experienced pathologist. It has been thought unnecessary to elaborate certain methods of treatment, which only a surgical specialist could adequately undertake, but a more detailed description has been given of measures which are regarded as urgent, and which a practitioner would consider to come legitimately within his province. Book Urinary Diseases Classic Reprint

Download or read book Urinary Diseases Classic Reprint written by Stephen H. Blodgett and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Urinary Diseases Anatomy. The kidney is very intimately connected with the large blood vessels of the system. Its blood supply comes directly from the abdominal aorta and the venous blood goes into the vena cava, thus making the kidney more intimately connected with the large blood supply of the body than is any other organ except the heart. This fact of the kidney's direct connection with the large blood vessels of the system must be borne carefully in mind later when we consider the advisability of hot and cold baths, and when we give our patients directions as to exposure to sudden changes of temperature. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on Renal and Urinary Diseases In presenting this work for the indulgent consideration of my professional readers, I would disclaim all pretension to have said the last word on the many vexed questions with which its subject matter is encumbered. I have endeavoured to explain, within a modest compass, the present state of contemporary knowledge, making such additions and suggestions as have resulted from thirteen years clinical and pathological study of Bright's Disease. Some of the material for this book has been previously published, but every chapter has been re-written, every point has been thought out again, and I need offer no apology for such alterations of opinion as may be perceptible in these pages. Except v;here the source is acknowledged, all the figures have been drawn by myself from preparations in my possession. Suc cess, almost beyond their expectations, met their efforts, and gradu ally as the number of these cases increased, we found it necessary to devote a special branch of our institution to these complaints. Further, these subjects are treated so amply in the works (in addition to those of the authors just mentioned) of Beale, Thu dichum, and Hassall, that the omission of them has caused the author little regret. It is hoped, however, that nothing has been omitted a knowledge of which possesses any interest for the actual practice of medicine. Download or read book On the Diseases of the Kidney Their Pathology Diagnosis and Treatment written by George Johnson and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-08 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from On the Diseases of the Kidney, Their Pathology, Diagnosis, and Treatment: With an Introductory Chapter on the Anatomy and Physiology of the Kidney One of the primary objects which I have proposed to myself in the composition of the present volume, is, to give such a history of renal diseases as will enable the practitioner to distinguish their various forms and stages during the lifetime of the patient, while an accurate diagnosis in available for the practical purposes of prognosis and treatment. A knowledge of healthy structure and functions is the best and, indeed, the only secure basis for pathological science; I have therefore devoted an introductory chapter to a consideration of the anatomy and physiology of the kidney. In some respects I have modified the views of renal pathology which, at different times during the last six years, I have published in the Medico-Chirurgical Transactions, and elsewhere. These modified views have resulted, partly from my own continued researches, and partly from the labours and criticisms of others. Book The Modern Treatment of Diseases of the Kidney Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Modern Treatment of Diseases of the Kidney Classic Reprint written by Dujardin-Beaumetz Dujardin-Beaumetz and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-05-23 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Modern Treatment of Diseases of the Kidney Dr Hurd has asked me for a short introduction to his translation of my lectures on the Therapeutics of Diseases of the Kidney. The importance of a knowledge of this department of in ternal pathology and therapeutics is incalculable, and scarcely a day will pass when the physician in active practice will not have occasion to make application of some of the principles laid down in this treatise. Much has been learned these late years as to renal pathology and symptomatology. We know to-day that one of the first results of fibroid degeneration of the vascular system (a morbid change so frequent), is sclerosis of the kidney, and this alteration entails renal insufficiency. In this insufficiency, the presence of albumen in the urine plays but a secondary role, and one which cannot serve as the basis of prognosis. Far different, however, is the case with that inevitable consequence of renal failure, the retention in the blood of toxic alkaloids secreted by the economy, and it is to the accumulation of these uro-toxines that we must ascribe that odd complexus of symptoms called uraemic poisoning. Therapeutics may do much to oppose this systemic poisoning by favoring through other emunctories the elimina tion of these toxines. This book was released on 2017-11-02 with total page 1158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Genito-Urinary Surgery and Venereal Diseases In the preparation of this work we have endeavored to present clearly and with sufficient detail the generally accepted teachings of the day in regard to the pathology, symptomatology, diagnosis, and treatment of syphilis and genito-urinary diseases. We have exercised the author's right of choice in estimating the comparative value of various methods of treatment, and have given chiefly those which our experience has led us to prefer, though alter native methods are usually mentioned. As it was our wish to make this book one of practical use to the physician, much space has been devoted to symptomatology, diagnosis, and treatment. The patho logical alterations characteristic of the diseases and injuries described have been briefly outlined, avoiding discussion of questions still nu settled. Historical considerations have been abbreviated as much as possible, and references have been omitted, though proper credit has been given for special methods or teachings.
