Download or read book United States Coin Design Families and Collector s Guide written by Mike Forster and published by Knowledgewise. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coins give us a sublime and tangible connection to history and an artistic expression of the ideals and values of their periods. Like art, a collector need not attempt a “complete” collection of denominations and designs – a representative example of each of various major design families or individual designs can be quite enjoyable, satisfying and informative. This volume with its timeline is targeted to beginning and novice coin collectors to promote the enjoyment and appreciation of US coin design history, but hopefully experienced collectors will also gain new insights.

David Bowers explores more than 250 distinct coin designs, from the 1792 half disme up to today's American Innovation dollars, and every gold, silver, copper, steel, nickel, and other coin in between. Download or read book U S Coins written by U S Government Accountability Office (G and published by BiblioGov. This book was released on 2013-06 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The designs on three of the most common U.S. coins, the penny, nickel, and dime, have remained largely unchanged for over 50 years. The 50 State Quarters Program, involving a set of recurring designs commemorating each state, has been credited with generating renewed interest in the quarter by collectors and the public. A recent redesign of the new dollar coin has also increased the public's interest in collecting the coin, but it is not widely circulating. Concerned about the level of public interest in coins and the circulation of the dollar coin, Congress mandated a GAO review of U.S. coin design, with particular attention to increasing circulation of the dollar coin. GAO contracted with the Gallup Organization to survey a representative sample of U.S. adults to obtain public views on various coin design questions, including public preference for coin denominations, coin design features, the frequency of change in coin design, and ways to increase acceptance and use of the new dollar coin.
