Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Obama Administration has launched an initiative to make the policymaking process more open and transparent, and has asked for comments from the public on how the rulemaking process in particular can be improved in these respects. Some observers have concluded that the most critical part of that process occurs before a proposed rule is published in the Federal Register, and (for significant rules) possibly even earlier - before the rule is approved by the issuing agency and submitted to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) within the Office of Management and Budget for review pursuant to Executive Order 12866. A representative of the Obama Administration has said that the public will be allowed to participate in the development of proposed rules. However, in order for the public to do so, or to allow more time to prepare comments during sometimes brief comment periods, the public must first know that the proposed rule is being developed.

This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Government data and resources are uniquely useful to researchers and other library users. But without a roadmap, sifting through the sheer quantity of information to find the right answers is foolhardy. The first edition of this text is well established as an essential navigational tool for both LIS students and professionals; now this newly revised, peer-reviewed update is even more attuned to new sources and types of government information and how best to locate them. Unmatched in its scope, this book covers such key topics as the history of government information, from its colorful beginnings to the era of Wikileaks, Edward Snowden, and data breaches;how to think like a government documents librarian in order to find information efficiently, plus other research tips;all types of law resources and information, including public laws and the U.S. Code, Case Law and the judicial branch, and regulations;Congressional literature, from bills and committee hearings to the U.S. Congressional Serial Set;patents, trademarks, and intellectual property;census data, educational information, and other statistical resources;health information, with an in-depth look at the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the trend toward and impact of online medical records; and science, environmental, and energy resources from agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.Exercises throughout the text support instruction, while the approachable and well-organized style make it ideal for day-to-day reference use.

Book Upcoming Rules Pursuant to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act PPACA

Download or read book Upcoming Rules Pursuant to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act PPACA written by Curtis W. Copeland and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2011-05 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The PPACA is a noteworthy example of congressional delegation of rule-making authority to fed. agencies. One way for Congress to identify upcoming PPACA rules is by reviewing the Unified Agenda of Fed. Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions. The Unified Agenda lists upcoming activities, by agency, in five separate categories or stages of the rule-making process: the pre-rule stage, the proposed rule stage, the final rule stage, long-term actions, and completed actions. This report examines the most recent edition of the Unified Agenda, published on Dec. 20, 2010. The report identifies upcoming proposed and final rules listed in the Unified Agenda that are expected to be issued pursuant to PPACA. This is a print on demand report.
