Mais ce gaspillage n'a pas été perdu pour tout le monde, l'atmosphère de la planète s'en est enrichie sous la forme de dioxyde de carbone (CO2) opaque aux infrarouges venus du sol et qui ne peuvent s'échapper vers l'espace, créant un effet de serre qui empoisonne aujourd'hui notre planète en rompant à grande vitesse les équilibres naturels qui ne se modifiaient que lentement sur des périodes s'étendant sur plusieurs millénaires. Ces équilibres ont été bousculés en quelques décennies et donnent naissance à des phénomènes météorologiques de plus en plus violents et de plus en plus fréquents. Mais parallèlement nous prenons conscience de la finitude de ce que l'on vole à la planète qui est loin d'être inépuisable. Ce sont deux murs qui se sont dressés sur notre chemin dans la conquête de l'énergie, la finitude de ce que l'on arrache à la Terre, sans pouvoir lui rendre, et l'empoisonnement de notre atmosphère par leur combustion. La plupart des pays sont sur la voie de l'abandon de ces énergies fossiles et ont déjà choisi de recourir aux énergies renouvelables venant du Soleil, de façons plus ou moins directes, et non productrices de CO2. Les outils dont on a besoin ne font qu'emprunter à la Terre ce qui est nécessaire pour capturer ces différentes formes d'énergies naturelles, sans le transformer en chaleur. L'alternative c'est le nucléaire qui bien que n'étant pas émetteur de CO2 transforme son " combustible ", l'uranium, en chaleur sans résoudre le problème de sa finitude. Quelle route allons-nous prendre ? La France est à la croisée des chemins, mais avons-nous le droit de nous tromper, de tromper nos enfants et même nos petits-enfants, car certains choix vont impacter notre avenir jusqu'au XXIIe siècle ?

The present study deals specifically with structure of utterances in learner varieties. The authors have attempted to find general principles which determine the form of utterances from the very beginning to relatively advanced stages. Chapter 1 and 2 provide the framework for the study and here the guiding hypotheses are sketched on the basis of a pilot analysis. The empirical part of the study is contained in Chapters 3-6, in which data are given for the acquisition of, respectively, English (by Punjabi and Italian learners), German (Italian and Turkish learners), Dutch (Turkish and Moroccon learners) and French (Moroccon and Spanish learners), thus allowing for crosslinguistic comparisons in various ways. For each data-set the learner's linguistic repertoire is established, and then the utterance patterns recurrent in his/her production and the constraints these patterns are subject to. In Chapter 7 the general and theoretical implications are discussed.
