Download or read book Understanding Mechanical Properties of Ceramic Matrix Composites Through a Nanoindentation Technique written by Eric LaDell Kyron Jones and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents a micromechanics study of a melt infiltrated hi-nicalon/BN(CVI)/SiC (hi-nicalon/boron nitride (chemical vapor infiltration) silicon carbide) composite subjected to monotonic tensile and cyclic fatigue load at room and elevated temperatures, as well as long term annealing in an air-based medium. Obtains from single fiber push-out tests the values of interfacial shear strength as a main parameter defining fatique properties and toughness of SiC/SiC composites. Seeks to establish a nanoindentation push-out technique for interfacial shear strength study.
