Book excerpt: Jack Dufour’s battle between good and evil brings him to a terrifying scene of unexplainable deaths. In a small village north of Georgia, strange deaths have occurred. Twenty-six people were found dead, mainly children and young women, but the causes could not be determined. There was an elevated seismic activity but the death of these people wasn’t caused by the earthquake, but from unexplainable lacerations present on each victim’s chest as if the earthquake tremors actually occurred from within their bodies. The form of the wounds precisely outlined the sign of the cross. Why have the chests of these poor kids been slaughtered? Why the sign of the cross? Why a cross-shaped slashing? What does the Black Lady want to tell us? What is the sense? And if there is a sense, will it repeat itself?

Book Mine Mine Mine

Download or read book Mine Mine Mine written by Uhuru Portia Phalafala and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2023-03 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mine Mine Mine is a personal narration of Uhuru Portia Phalafala's family's experience of the migrant labor system brought on by the gold mining industry in Johannesburg, South Africa. Using geopoetics to map geopolitics, Phalafala follows the death of her grandfather during a historic juncture in 2018, when a silicosis class action lawsuit against the mining industry in South Africa was settled in favor of the miners. Phalafala ties the catastrophic effects of gold mining on the miners and the environment in Johannesburg to the destruction of Black lives, the institution of the Black family, and Black sociality. Her epic poem addresses racial capitalism, bringing together histories of the transatlantic and trans-Indian slave trades, of plantation economies, and of mining and prison-industrial complexes. As inheritor of the migrant labor lineage, she uses her experience to explore how Black women carry intergenerational trauma of racial capitalism in their bodies and intersects the personal and national, continental and diasporic narration of this history within a critical race framework.

Fashion Stylists is an invaluable resource for students and professionals interested in image-making, the representation of style and fashion, entrepreneurship and the history of fashion professionals.

Book Justice

  • Pages : 265 pages

Download or read book Justice written by David Henderman CPP and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2024-01-02 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The years of “reconstruction” in the South were many times a facade and only appeared to enforce the statutory policies of Reconstruction imposed by the Union. It wasn’t until Theodore Roosevelt became president of the United States that the tragedies of the Southern blacks and the lies fabricated to cover them up would even come to light. And even then, there would be little to no resistance. The Civil War had literally taken the fight out of the North, so both status quo and complacency ruled the early part of the century. The rise of the American worker would begin, and another form of slavery would rise for whites and blacks alike. That story, like the stories of cyber operations and social media we’ll leave for another time. For now, we’ll stay within the framework of the late 1800s, and we’ll have to realize that there had to be a means by which these evolutionary “scientific” experiments could be enforced. It was here that much of U.S. law enforcement in the South was manipulated, and a noble occupation sold out to the highest bidder. Because in the end, as it was in the beginning, it was indeed all about money. Dave Henderman offers a bold primer on culture, cultural relations, and discrimination in America from a Christian and Biblical worldview. Prevailing thought on race, ethnicity and discrimination in American society has degraded into opposing factions and camps. In a penetrating critique of all sides, Dave probes the cultural paradigm that has developed since Reconstruction and the Jim Crow segregated South. The reader will gain an insight into all aspects of cultural relations in America along with a possible way forward into the future, unified with brothers and sisters in Christ of every skin color. For the concerned citizen with a pure heart, reading this series will be a good start! Colonel Mark Kerry, USA, Retired

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Above All is an in-depth expansion of Psalm 22. The psalm covers the intimacy that Christ experienced with God at His birth, the apparent betrayal at the fulfillment of Christ's earthly mission and the glorious results His suffering produces. The author has combined both Old Testament and New Testament scripture references with her imagination to weave together the story of God's loving purpose for mankind, the plan of redemption from the fall and above all, the fulfillment of that redemption. Above All gives an explanation for the wicked and horrible things that occur in the world daily and explains why God does not intervene. The story begins as the author would imagine Jesus's thoughts while on the cross of Calvary and places the reader as a spectator witnessing what Jesus sees, feels and does from the Garden of the Mount of Olives through the next three days after the crucifixion.

This book was released on 2018-11-07 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Marc Ashton was kidnapped, thoughts of his famous father, Horace Dade Ashton, filled his mind. The elder Ashton became a founding member of the Explorers Club, and showed his passion for adventure by visiting many perilous, yet captivating, corners of the world at a time when travel was not easy. Marc believed the key to his escape lay in his father’s exploits. Dubbed the “original Indiana Jones,” the elder Ashton shared his journeys through his countless lectures, films, prize-winning photographs, and writing. In 1940, he became the cultural attaché to the U.S. embassy in Haiti and moved his young family to the island, where they remained until 2001. The Spirit of Villarosa is a glorious account of Horace Ashton’s remarkable adventures juxtaposed with Marc Ashton’s own harrowing captivity by armed, drug-crazed thugs seeking a staggering ransom. The Spirit of Villarosa would make an exciting adventure novel; because it’s a true story makes it all the more exhilarating.
