Book ReFocus The Films of Pablo Larrain

Download or read book ReFocus The Films of Pablo Larrain written by Hatry Laura Hatry and published by Edinburgh University Press. This book was released on 2020-09-21 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pablo Larrain is among the most prominent filmmakers in contemporary Chilean cinema. Having created a highly original cinematic language and established a focused critical dialogue about Chile's troubled contemporary history, his work presents an unflinching portrait of one of the most notorious regimes of modern Latin America (indeed, the world) and its problematic aftermath. In a straightforward, often surprising, and reliably controversial series of films, Larrain never retreats in the face of violence or the painful truths that still undergird Chilean reality. Assessing his work in the context of film aesthetics, philosophy, history, adaptation studies and cultural studies, ReFocus: The Films of Pablo Larran is the first book-length English-language anthology about this important director's cinema, offering a wide range of perspectives by a diverse range of international scholars.

Book Handbook on Corporate Foundations

Download or read book Handbook on Corporate Foundations written by Lonneke Roza and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-11 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Companies increasingly play a meaningful role in civil society and the philanthropic sector through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Philanthropy (CP). The most well studied form of allocating these resources is through outright contributions to operating external foundations and other nonprofit organizations. However, far less is known about the use of corporate foundations, separate and independent nonprofit entities aimed at channeling corporate giving to a social mission related to a company. Corporate foundations are often linked to the founding company through their name, funding, trustees, administration and potential employee involvement. As these foundations are growing in number, size and importance and becoming increasingly visible in the philanthropic sector, the urgency to understand their role and functioning becomes more important. The primary aim of this volume is to deliver a holistic analysis of the current state-of-the-art on corporate foundations. For that reason, the book includes different perspectives on and use a hybrid concept of corporate foundations. The book includes three main parts. First, looking further into the organizational processes of corporate foundations, the book analyzes governance and operations as major aspects of organizational performance. Second, it sheds light on the role of corporate foundations in various institutional settings. Lastly, the book includes various stakeholder perspectives on corporate foundations, including corporate employees, beneficiaries, and their non-profit partners. By reading the book, readers will build a comprehensive understanding of the role and functioning of corporate foundations, understand new avenues for research and, in case they are practitioners in the field, find practical advice rooted in academic research.

Book Kilmann Saxton Culture Gap Survey

Download or read book Kilmann Saxton Culture Gap Survey written by Ralph H. Kilmann and published by . This book was released on 2011-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Kilmann-Saxton Culture-Gap Survey is a self-report assessment that takes only fifteen minutes to complete and another ten minutes to graph the Culture-Gap Profile of a work group of five to fifteen members This profile pinoints the difference between actual and desired cultural norms. Additional Culture-Gap Profiles can be calculated for larger work units, including the entire organization. Following completion of these graphs, the members of one or more work groups can begin discussing how to close the largest Culture-Gaps that were identified in four areas: Task Support, Task Innovation, Social Relationships, and Personal Freedom. Previously, unconscious, unstated "rules of the game" (actual norms) often undermined everyone's best efforts and intentions. Once the these culture-gaps have been closed (or at least brought within an acceptable threshold), members can effectively proceed with other change initiatives and improvement programs.

Book Handbook of Quality of Life and Sustainability

Download or read book Handbook of Quality of Life and Sustainability written by Javier Martinez and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-30 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The volume includes contributions from established and upcoming scholars from various disciplines and geographical contexts (Global South and North). The varying cultural and socio-spatial contexts of the authors in the selected cases contribute to first-hand knowledge on the realities of sustainability issues affecting the quality of life. The authors apply a wide diversity of methods and tools, which facilitates a unique understanding of the interlinkages between quality of life and sustainability. The chapters are grouped in three main sections: concepts and foundations; tools, techniques, and applications; and innovations. The authors provide their own view and theoretical approximation of the dimensions of sustainability, in particular on how these dimensions play out in relation to quality of life. The combination of sustainability and quality of life concepts and perspectives is particularly important in unravelling the multi-faceted nature of human, urban, rural/spatial development.
