Book Ultramicro Methods in Biochemistry VII The Determination of Plasma Or Serum Urea Nitrogen VIII The Determination of Serum Uric Acid IV The Determination of Serum Creatinine

Download or read book Ultramicro Methods in Biochemistry VII The Determination of Plasma Or Serum Urea Nitrogen VIII The Determination of Serum Uric Acid IV The Determination of Serum Creatinine written by and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ultramicro methods for the determination of serum urea nitrogen, uric acid, and creatinine have been evaluated and the results are recorded in reports VII, VIII, and IX, respectively. The method for the determination of urea nitrogen is an ultramicro adaptation of the reaction in which a blue color is developed when the ammoniumion reacts with phenol and hypochlorite. Ammonia is released from urea with urease. The entire reaction is conducted on 5micronl of serum or plasma and the final volume of reaction mixture is 2. 205 ml.

Book Clinical Applications of Capillary Electrophoresis

Download or read book Clinical Applications of Capillary Electrophoresis written by Terry M. Phillips and published by Humana Press. This book was released on 2012-09-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a powerful and rapid tool for performing complex analyses of a number of different molecular species ranging from small inorganic ions to large nucleic acid fragments and proteins. It is quickly becoming established as a useful tool in clinical medicine due to its consumption of minute samples (less than a microlitre), low reagent costs, and extreme sensitivity, depending upon the source of detection used. Clinical Applications of Capillary Electrophoresis aims to give an in-depth manual of CE applications in several important areas of clinical science. Divided into seven sections, this volume provides a brief overview of how CE has been applied in clinical settings, followed by several chapters on CE analysis of important diagnostic molecules and biofluids, as well as descriptions of applications in clinical chemistry, hematology, bacteriology, virology, disease-associated biomarker discovery, immunology and genetic analysis. Written in the successful Methods in Molecular BiologyTM series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible protocols, and notes on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and easily accessible, Clinical Applications of Capillary Electrophoresis seeks to serve as a valuable source of information not only for clinical pathologists, but also clinical scientists who wish to apply the technique to diagnosis and research.

Download or read book Milk Proteins written by C.A. Barth and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the state of knowledge and progress of research on food proteins, and in particular, milk proteins. Its basis is the Symposium on Milk Proteins that was held at the Federal Dairy Research Centre in Kiel, FRG, in June, 1988. Scien tists from around the world attended and addressed pure, as well as applied fields of protein research and technology. This book is divided into five sections, each adapted from the symposium's invited lectures, short communications, and poster presentations. New criteria for the "bio logical value" of dietary proteins and their relationships are considered according to: - Milk Proteins and Nitrogen Equilibrium - Milk Proteins and Ligands - Milk Proteins: Structural and Genetic Aspects - Milk Proteins: Technological and Functional Aspects - Milk Proteins and Clinical Nutrition Generally, different dietary proteins are classified according to their "biological value," i.e., their capacity to cause different retention of nitrogen in the body. But we think there are other intriguing leads worth studying that may help to identify which dietary proteins are best recommended for specific dietary situations or clini cal conditions. In addition, we have taken into consideration new fields such as attempts to determine the three-dimensional structure of proteins using two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, and the application of genetic engineering to the lactating cell. In other words, we are on the way to the transgenic cow with customized milk constituents and composition.
