Download or read book The Two Pion Exchange Contribution to the Higher Partial Waves of Nucleon Nucleon Scattering thesis written by and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By means of the Mandelstam representation, expressions are obtained for the two-pion-exchange contributions to the higher partial waves of N-N scattering. A set of ten invariant amplitudes is selected, of which each member obeys the Mandelstam representation. Dispersion relations are written for the amplitudes in which the discontinuities are absorptive parts for N-bar-N scattering. By means of the unitarity condition the absorptive parts are expressed as a partial- wave expansion in terms of the pi pi - NN partialwave amplitudes of Frazer and Fulco, except for the contributions of the pole in the pi -N system which are treated exactly in order to ensure better convergence of the partial-wave expansion. The N-N transition amplitudes in the angular-momentum representation are expressed in terms of the invariant amplitudes. (auth).

Book Contribution from Two On shell Pion Exchange in Nucleon nucleon Scattering

Download or read book Contribution from Two On shell Pion Exchange in Nucleon nucleon Scattering written by Nupan Kheaomaingam and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We used recent phenomenological form factors to calculate the effect of on-shell two-pion exchange in nucleon-nucleon scattering below the two-pion production threshold. As expected, the contributions of partial wave amplitudes are all negligible. We also noticed that the relativistic spin-operator decomposition of the scattering amplitude is not unique at certain momenta and angles.

Book Pions and Nuclei

Download or read book Pions and Nuclei written by Torleif Erik Oskar Ericson and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1988 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pion plays an outstanding role in nuclear physics as a generator of the nuclear force and as an important part of the nuclear many-body problem. At the same time, pion beams are used as probes to explore the nucleus and its interactions. As pion physics has matured over the years, a rich and diverse variety of phenomena has been uncovered. The aim of this book is to examine the underlying physical picture behind these phenomena in a systematic and coherent way. The authors emphasize the interplay between physical concepts and experimental facts more than the formal tools, which are presented in a series of appendices. The book is directed towards advanced students as well as research workers.

Book The p n Reaction and the Nucleon Nucleon Force

Download or read book The p n Reaction and the Nucleon Nucleon Force written by Charles D. Goodman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the "Conference on the (p,n) Reaction and the Nucleon-Nucleon Force" held in Telluride, Colorado, March 29-31, 1979. The idea to hold this conference grew out of a program at the Indiana University Cyclotron Facility to study the (p,n) reaction in the 50-200 MeV energy range. The first new Indiana data, in contrast to low energy data, showed features suggestive of a dominant one pion exchange interaction. It seemed desir able to review what was known about the fre·e and the effective nucleon-nucleon force and the connection between the low and high energy (p,n) data. Thus the conference was born. The following people served as the organizing committee: S. M. Austin, Michigan State University W. Bertozzi, Massachusetts Institute of Technology S. D. Bloom, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory C. C. Foster, Indiana University C. D. Goodman, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Conference Chairman) D. A. Lind, University of Colorado J. Rapaport, Ohio University G. R. Satch1er, Oak Ridge National Laboratory G. E. Walker, Indiana University R. L. Walter, Duke University and TUNL The sponsoring organizations were: Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tennessee Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory, Durham, North Carolina Of course, the major credit for the success of the con ference must go to the speakers who diligently prepared their talks that are reproduced in this volume.

Book Relativistic O q4 Two pion Exchange Nucleon nucleon Potential

Download or read book Relativistic O q4 Two pion Exchange Nucleon nucleon Potential written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chiral two-pion exchange nucleon-nucleon interaction has nowadays a rather firm conceptual basis, but depends on low-energy constants, which may be extracted from fits to data. In order to facilitate this kind of application, we present here a parametrized version of our relativistic expansion of this component of the force to O(q4), performed recently.

Book Minimally Nonlocal Nucleon nucleon Potentials with Chiral Two pion Exchange Including math mi Delta mi math Resonances

Download or read book Minimally Nonlocal Nucleon nucleon Potentials with Chiral Two pion Exchange Including math mi Delta mi math Resonances written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, we construct a coordinate-space chiral potential, including [Delta]-isobar intermediate states in its two-pion-exchange component up to order Q3 (Q denotes generically the low momentum scale). The contact interactions entering at next-to-leading and next-to-next-to-next-to-leading orders (Q2 and Q4, respectively) are rearranged by Fierz transformations to yield terms at most quadratic in the relative momentum operator of the two nucleons. The low-energy constant multiplying these contact interactions are fitted to the 2013 Granada database, consisting of 2309 pp and 2982 np data (including, respectively, 148 and 218 normalizations) in the laboratory-energy range 0-300 MeV. For the total 5291 $pp$ and $np$ data in this range, we obtain a [Chi]2 /datum of roughly 1.3 for a set of three models characterized by long- and short-range cutoffs, RL and RS respectively, ranging from (RL, RS)=(1.2,0.8) fm down to (0.8,0.6) fm. The long-range (short-range) cutoff regularizes the one- and two-pion exchange (contact) part of the potential.
