Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theres nothing quite as exhilarating as falling or being in love. It can truly be a magical experience. But, I know this euphoric energy called love that I write about in my new book entitled Breakthrough starts with me and how I feel about myself. Accepting who I am and feeling unconditional love and compassion for myself, helped me to experience the same level of unconditional love and compassion for others. With great effort and determination, love is the foundation for the most intimate, romantic relationships. Like all else, relationships have a beginning and an end. Some grow quickly, while others take longer to nurture. Breakthrough is a compilation of my many unexpected challenges and triumphs of loves lovesickness, heartaches, and heartbreaks. Im no expert in love by any means. In Breakthrough you will come to know this first hand. However, I do believe that when you meet that person that makes your heart flutter, the one person that satisfies your sexual and romantic desires, then that, to me, is love. When you can show another person how you feel without speaking, I call that love. In my lifetime, I have found amazing loves and I have lost some amazing loves. I have had the kind of love that reminded me how simple it is to feel, a love that changed me, a love that left me hanging, and a love I never got over. I can only live my life the way it was destined for me and I trust love to always be a part of my plan. Love is exciting, whether it be puppy love or a unique platonic love, a lasting love or just a fling. For some people love is based only on physical attraction and nothing more. Others prefer a love that comes with commitment, trust, respect, and compromise. For me, true love is simple and patient. There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heartpursue those. ~~~Michael Nolan Love is like a violin. The music may stop now and then but the strings remain forever. ~~~~~June Masters Bacher
Download or read book Shakespeare s Hamlet and Lawrence Agonistes written by Barry J. Scherr and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2018-07-27 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first to examine the influence of Shakespeare—particularly Hamlet—on D. H. Lawrence. Using the Bloomian theory of the “anxiety of influence” to probe the startling depths of Lawrence’s agon with his towering precursor Shakespeare, it closely examines Lawrence’s crypto-Jewish identity, as well as that of many of his highly individual characters, who embody the characteristics of Old Testament figures, and in so doing infuse a patriarchal strength and divine “religious” sublimity into civilized life. Lawrence’s claims about the self-sacrificing influence of Christianity on Shakespeare’s Hamlet, on the other hand, demonstrate how this influence carries over into the submission of the subject and the decline of Western Civilization. The book extrapolates this decline into a critique of the modern-day left-wing ideology that appropriates the self-abnegating individual to its collectivist ends. In responding agonistically to Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Lawrence claims a far more complete, vital, and salubrious “consciousness” and a Weltanschauung that makes for greater, more fulfilling “life” thanks to the inner strength, psychic and sexual power of the Lawrentian “Self Supreme.” The book will appeal to Lawrence and Shakespeare scholars and enthusiasts who wish to appreciate Lawrence and Shakespeare as supremely profound writers and thinkers. Its unique demonstration of Bloomian literary theory makes it come poignantly alive for both graduate students and college professors.

Book excerpt: College programmer Stranger is an anxiety-ridden over-thinker who takes psychoactive drugs while contemplating the heretical philosophical gambit of techno-anarchy to Satanism. Masking this underlying nerdiness with the public persona of an alpha-male heavy drinking frat star, he's coming to age as a mixed kid whose parents were born during the Civil Rights movement; one generation removed, he is increasingly forced to confront the myths of a post-racial America. Oh, and because these daily identity crises didn't cause enough trouble, Stranger falls in love for the first time, despite never having had a girlfriend or sex sober. He's become enthralled with the demure, soulfully morbid Gunny, who not only has a boyfriend but self-esteem issues that manifest in the self-harm practice of cutting, and she isn't exactly ready to leave the one guy who's supported her throughout the addiction. But don't worry, Stranger doesn't navigate this collegiate underworld alone, he has a whole cast of equally brilliant but disturbed misfits for his hedonistic, poetical high-romance odyssey. And throughout the chronicles of these madcap, absurdist tales, Stranger learns of the limits to love and the pains to be temporary, of failing friendships and intimate escapades, of youth and the aging world.
