Rachel died October 24, 1836 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. James married second Lavina Head who was born on September 28, 1809 in North Carolina. They had seven children. Lavina was the daughter of Philip Head and Mary Tanner. Lavina died on July 31, 1890 in Greenwood, Nebraska. James died on April 27, 1897 in Leon, Iowa. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas, Ohio, Colorado, and elsewhere.
