Download or read book Women College Basketball Coaches written by Rosemarie Skaine and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2017-07-06 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tall, powerful athletes surge toward the goal in the last seconds of a fiercely fought game, providing excitement to an arena full of basketball fans. Increasingly, challenging games like this are being played by women's college teams. With the passage of Title IX and the success of the WNBA (Women's National Basketball League), women's college teams have received more support and attention both from academic institutions and basketball fans. One of the primary reasons for the growing interest in women's college basketball is the dedication of the women who coach these student athletes to personal and athletic success. Women currently coach nearly 65 percent of the women's basketball teams in all divisions of the NCAA. Their commitment to their sport and to their athletes has resulted in a game and a generation of athletes unlike any other. This analysis of the role of women coaches in college basketball provides a detailed history of women's involvement in college sports, as well as insights into the work of the great women coaches of the past and present, all highlighted through interviews with some of the most important women coaches of today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 22nd edition of the JURIX conference was held in Rotterdam on the 17th and 18th December and was hosted by the Erasmus University Rotterdam. While the conference was back to its country of origin, JURIX continues to attract a wide international audience. This year, the conference received submissions from all five continents. This clearly demonstrates the lively and growing interest for the highly interdisciplinary discipline of legal informatics. The selection of papers for this edition of JURIX covers a wide variety of topics in legal informatics, including contributions on established fields such as legal document management, argumentation, case based reasoning, dispute resolution, support for legal drafting and ontologies, to emerging areas such as regulatory compliance, normative multi-agent systems and game theory, as well as application areas, for example, fraud detection, legal tutoring systems and legal decision support systems.

Download or read book Antitrust Goes Global written by Simon J. Evenett and published by Brookings Institution Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How will the rapid growth of trade, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and international joint ventures alter antitrust enforcement? Can national antitrust enforcement guard against anticompetitive corporate practices in a globalizing world? Or will international friction increase as nations disagree over antitrust cases, like the Boeing-McDonnell Douglas merger? Recognizing the sheer volume of transatlantic commerce, the EU and U.S. have long cooperated on antitrust matters, but what has that cooperation achieved? And how far should such cooperation go in the future? This volume addresses these questions in the context of antitrust policies towards cartels, mergers and acquisitions, and vertical restraints. Leading experts elucidate the changing nature of antitrust enforcement on both sides of the Atlantic, with a keen eye to future multilateral, as well as bilateral, developments.

Download or read book Information Systems Architecture and Technology Proceedings of 40th Anniversary International Conference on Information Systems Architecture and Technology ISAT 2019 written by Leszek Borzemski and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This three-volume book highlights significant advances in the development of new information systems technologies and architectures. Further, it helps readers solve specific research and analytical problems and glean useful knowledge and business value from data. Each chapter provides an analysis of a specific technical problem, followed by a numerical analysis, simulation, and implementation of the solution to the real-world problem. Managing an organization, especially in today’s rapidly changing environment, is a highly complex process. Increased competition in the marketplace, especially as a result of the massive and successful entry of foreign businesses into domestic markets, changes in consumer behaviour, and broader access to new technologies and information, calls for organisational restructuring and the introduction and modification of management methods using the latest scientific advances. This situation has prompted various decision-making bodies to introduce computer modelling of organization management systems. This book presents the peer-reviewed proceedings of the 40th Anniversary International Conference “Information Systems Architecture and Technology” (ISAT), held on September 15–17, 2019, in Wrocław, Poland. The conference was organised by the Computer Science Department, Faculty of Computer Science and Management, Wroclaw University of Sciences and Technology, and University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, Poland. The papers have been grouped into three major sections: Part I—discusses topics including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence methods, knowledge discovery and data mining, big data, knowledge-based management, Internet of Things, cloud computing and high-performance computing, distributed computer systems, content delivery networks, and service-oriented computing. Part II—addresses various topics, such as system modelling for control, recognition and decision support, mathematical modelling in computer system design, service-oriented systems, and cloud computing, and complex process modelling. Part III—focuses on a number of themes, like knowledge-based management, modelling of financial and investment decisions, modelling of managerial decisions, production systems management, and maintenance, risk management, small business management, and theories and models of innovation.

Download or read book Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence A Threat or Savior written by W.F. Lawless and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-24 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI), by leading to an increase in the autonomy of machines and robots, is offering opportunities for an expanded but uncertain impact on society by humans, machines, and robots. To help readers better understand the relationships between AI, autonomy, humans and machines that will help society reduce human errors in the use of advanced technologies (e.g., airplanes, trains, cars), this edited volume presents a wide selection of the underlying theories, computational models, experimental methods, and field applications. While other literature deals with these topics individually, this book unifies the fields of autonomy and AI, framing them in the broader context of effective integration for human-autonomous machine and robotic systems. The contributions, written by world-class researchers and scientists, elaborate on key research topics at the heart of effective human-machine-robot-systems integration. These topics include, for example, computational support for intelligence analyses; the challenge of verifying today’s and future autonomous systems; comparisons between today’s machines and autism; implications of human information interaction on artificial intelligence and errors; systems that reason; the autonomy of machines, robots, buildings; and hybrid teams, where hybrid reflects arbitrary combinations of humans, machines and robots. The contributors span the field of autonomous systems research, ranging from industry and academia to government. Given the broad diversity of the research in this book, the editors strove to thoroughly examine the challenges and trends of systems that implement and exhibit AI; the social implications of present and future systems made autonomous with AI; systems with AI seeking to develop trusted relationships among humans, machines, and robots; and the effective human systems integration that must result for trust in these new systems and their applications to increase and to be sustained.
