Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: True Expressions Everyone has their way of dealing with pain or something that occurs in your life. I love the rain, the thunder, and the lightning. I can’t explain fully what it does to me. But that’s when I have my best moments of writing and creativity. One day I stumbled across my tablet with poems in them, and I thought, Wow I have been doing this for some time now. So I put the poems in order of events in my life. When reading these poems, I thought not only did I express my emotions within in my words but that the words spoken are of truth and not of fiction. Struggles of a Poet In each poem I could see and, most importantly, feel my own struggle, and remembering, this was once real, and today I still face struggles of my past. My desire to be heard and my not knowing if one day my poetry could be heard and if somehow my words could help or touch another. Wise words of my late brother, I remember him saying, “Why do you continue to write in those tablets and then put it in the closet? If you don’t ever invest and believe in yourself first, no one else will, and how will you know if you never try?” I give you my poetry, and within that, I give you my life story of how my passion for writing became true expressions of my life struggles.

Book Linguistic Expressions and Semantic Processing

Download or read book Linguistic Expressions and Semantic Processing written by Alastair Butler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-26 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces formal semantics techniques for a natural language processing audience. Methods discussed involve: (i) the denotational techniques used in model-theoretic semantics, which make it possible to determine whether a linguistic expression is true or false with respect to some model of the way things happen to be; and (ii) stages of interpretation, i.e., ways to arrive at meanings by evaluating and converting source linguistic expressions, possibly with respect to contexts, into output (logical) forms that could be used with (i). The book demonstrates that the methods allow wide coverage without compromising the quality of semantic analysis. Access to unrestricted, robust and accurate semantic analysis is widely regarded as an essential component for improving natural language processing tasks, such as: recognizing textual entailment, information extraction, summarization, automatic reply, and machine translation.
