Book Truck Route Planner and Journal

Download or read book Truck Route Planner and Journal written by Rahmouni K and published by . This book was released on 2019-12-27 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plan Your Trip Trip planning can save money in many waysA professional driver knows the importance of road trip planning. A well planned trip is profitable. It also raises a trucker's comfort level and eases the stress level of the day.Knowing where you're going to stop for meal breaks, fuel and rest, is absolutely imperative. There are all sorts of unexpected events that could occur on the road, but having a plan can make you more prepared. The better you have your trip planned out (driving hours, routes, weather scouting, etc.), the safer your journey will be. ***** CONSEQUENCES OF NO PLANS FOR A TRIP ***** Running out of fuel Over fueling before scaling, can cause an overweight issue, adversely affect the driver's schedule No convenient restaurant or truck stop for meals No proper rest area or truck stop parking for the night Not knowing where repair shops are located, or other essential services Potential danger...could end up in unknown, unsafe areas. Could cost the driver money if he takes the wrong route (extra miles) Driving time (hours of service) wasted and money wasted (extra fuel) and potentially late for a delivery Poor planning can damage your driving record. It's not worth the risk.

Book Design and Access Management Guidelines for Truck Routes

Download or read book Design and Access Management Guidelines for Truck Routes written by Ingrid B. Potts and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most laws, ordinances, and rules concerning truck routes are established for through trucks, but that trucks with local origins or destinations may use other roads and streets to travel to and from the established truck routes. The TRB National Cooperative Highway Research Program's NCHRP Research Report 943: Design and Access Management Guidelines for Truck Routes: Planning and Design Guide helps transportation agencies establish appropriate methods of choosing truck routes to ensure that the selected roads and streets are suitable for truck travel but do not decrease efficiency by taking trucks too far out of their way or increase crash risk by increasing travel distance (and, therefore, vehicle-miles of travel) too much.

Book Approximate Dynamic Programming for Dynamic Vehicle Routing

Download or read book Approximate Dynamic Programming for Dynamic Vehicle Routing written by Marlin Wolf Ulmer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-19 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a straightforward overview for every researcher interested in stochastic dynamic vehicle routing problems (SDVRPs). The book is written for both the applied researcher looking for suitable solution approaches for particular problems as well as for the theoretical researcher looking for effective and efficient methods of stochastic dynamic optimization and approximate dynamic programming (ADP). To this end, the book contains two parts. In the first part, the general methodology required for modeling and approaching SDVRPs is presented. It presents adapted and new, general anticipatory methods of ADP tailored to the needs of dynamic vehicle routing. Since stochastic dynamic optimization is often complex and may not always be intuitive on first glance, the author accompanies the ADP-methodology with illustrative examples from the field of SDVRPs. The second part of this book then depicts the application of the theory to a specific SDVRP. The process starts from the real-world application. The author describes a SDVRP with stochastic customer requests often addressed in the literature, and then shows in detail how this problem can be modeled as a Markov decision process and presents several anticipatory solution approaches based on ADP. In an extensive computational study, he shows the advantages of the presented approaches compared to conventional heuristics. To allow deep insights in the functionality of ADP, he presents a comprehensive analysis of the ADP approaches.

Book Fuzzy Systems and Data Mining VII

Download or read book Fuzzy Systems and Data Mining VII written by C. Shen and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2021-11-04 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuzzy systems and data mining are indispensible aspects of the computer systems and algorithms on which the world has come to depend. This book presents papers from FSDM 2021, the 7th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Data Mining. The conference, originally due to take place in Seoul, South Korea, was held online on 26-29 October 2021, due to ongoing restrictions connected with the COVID-19 pandemic. The annual FSDM conference provides a platform for knowledge exchange between international experts, researchers, academics and delegates from industry. This year, the committee received 266 submissions, and this book contains 52 papers, including keynotes and invited presentations, oral and poster contributions. The papers cover four main areas: 1) fuzzy theory, algorithms and systems – including topics like stability; 2) fuzzy applications – which are widely used and cover various types of processing as well as hardware and architecture for big data and time series; 3) the interdisciplinary field of fuzzy logic and data mining; and 4) data mining itself. The topic most frequently addressed this year is fuzzy systems. The book offers an overview of research and developments in fuzzy logic and data mining, and will be of interest to all those working in the field of data science.

Book Security and Environmental Sustainability of Multimodal Transport

Download or read book Security and Environmental Sustainability of Multimodal Transport written by Michael Bell and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-06-07 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not until the recent attacks on transport systems has transport security become a focus of public concern and academic research. Various aspects of transport security have already been analysed under different agendas. Some research was focused on the potential risk to the environment resulting from transport, in particular from the transport of hazardous or dangerous goods, while other research considered critical elements of transport networks or supply chains as vital lifelines in the case of natural disasters. Recently, new threats stimulated interest in transport security as a stand-alone issue, placing it at the forefront of political and academic agendas. A NATO Advanced Research Workshop held at Imperial College London in January 2009 brought together those with expertise in the above-mentioned fields in order to verify the current state of knowledge in the field and identify promising areas for future work. The workshop concentrated on maritime and intermodal transport, risk management and long-term strategic planning, rather than on the details of monitoring or detection techniques. This collection of papers emanates largely from that workshop. While transport systems are widely recognized as terrorist targets, complete protection of these systems is economically and practically infeasible. The workshop looked at analytical methods to identify critical points in the transport infrastructure and the prioritization of defensive and mitigating measures given the limited resources available. Deficiencies in methods for conducting such an assessment were identified and the need for cost-effective mitigation measures was emphasized.
