Cet homme, les larmes aux yeux, me dit qu'elle était morte. L'estime que j'avais conçue pour cette aimable personne, me fit ressentir sa perte vivement. J'avais promis de l'épouser après mon voyage, si Dieu me faisait la grâce de la revoir. Les aventures que j'eus à ce sujet, méritent bien que j'en dise ici quelque mot, quoique cela soit arrivé dans mes premiers voyages.
