Download or read book Tricks with Finesses written by David Bird and published by Master Point Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Bridge Technique Series is designed to take the reader through the most important aspects of card-play technique at bridge. Each book of the series focuses on a different topic, and wherever possible the tactics and strategy are considered from the point of view of both declarer and defenders. Many players know little more about the finesse other than how to handle an A-Q combination. This book covers the more complex finessing situations, including double finesses, two-way finesses, and the intra-finesse. Tricks with Finesses discusses how declarers can avoid finesses, how to choose among different finesse options as well as offering tips to defenders on how to lead declarer astray."--Back cover

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every Bridge player has heard the cliche that 'Bridge is a partnership game'. What does that actually mean? What is expected of you? Or put more strongly, what are your responsibilities from the very simple to the more difficult, across a myriad of common Bidding and Defensive positions? Captaincy for Advancing Bridge Players seeks to put the under-organized and under-discussed area of Captaincy squarely under the 'X' that marks the spot on your favorite pirate's map. There is plenty of bounty to be had for the players that find the timely ways of how to provide or seek information, and know just when it is time to make a critical decision for the partnership. General Concepts are laid out and related theory is discussed, that provide the foundation for Advancing players to learn 'how to fish' across many different looking but related Bridge circumstances. Innumerable example hands then progressively allow you to quiz yourself. These hands are then analyzed in detail so that as you experience the repeated application of these fundamental Captaincy Concepts, your Bridge skills are gradually both broadened and deepened. Having quiz hands is a challenging and fun way to help you learn this very challenging and fun game from your favorite armchair! So, do you do your fair share? Download or read book The Finesse written by James Marsh Sternberg MD and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2021-02-04 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How much do you really know about finesses? A finesse is one of the most common techniques in bridge and yet one of the most abused. The term “finesseaholic” describes a player who never met a finesse he/she didn’t want to take. So often the finesse is really a last resort, only when other more promising lines of play are not available or have failed. As a common technique, so much is often taken for granted. Often there are questions that need be resolved. Is it a two-way guess? Which suit should be finessed first? Who is it safe to finesse into? Which card should be led may make the difference between success and failure. Are there clues in the bidding or lack of bidding? One definition of “experience” is what we get when we don’t get what we want. After you play bridge for a while, you will learn that the finesses you desperately need to work are the ones that fail. Profit from experience. Avoid an unnecessary finesse that may lead to disaster if it loses.

Download or read book The Bridge Game written by Nicolae Sfetcu and published by Nicolae Sfetcu. This book was released on 2014-04-25 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive guide of bridge game: online games, variants, suits, hand evaluation, bidding systems, techniques, strategy, tactics. Contract bridge, usually known simply as bridge, is a trick-taking card game of skill for four players, usually sitting around a table, who form two partnerships, or "sides". The partners on each side sit opposite one another. The game consists of two main parts – bidding (or auction) and play; the rules of play are rather simple and similar to other trick-taking games. However, the bidding and associated conventions are much more complex, and represent the true learning barrier to new players. Also, there is an immense variety of techniques in play of the hand, whose effective use requires learning and experience.
