Book Buckling Dynamics of Thermo elastic Plates

Download or read book Buckling Dynamics of Thermo elastic Plates written by Wael Abdul-Majeed and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book theoretical and experimental investigations have been made into the effect of thermo-elastic behavior on the static and dynamic characteristics of thin rectangular plates at different boundary conditions. The theoretical approach was based on the theory of bending of isotropic thermo-elastic thin plates to obtain the governing differential equation.Thermal buckling equations were established for rectangular plate with different fixing edge conditions and with different aspect ratio. Expressions of the frequency equations for rectangular plate model with and without the thermoe-lastic effect for different ends conditions A numerical method using the finite-element thermal-structural analysis method was used to study the effects of plate-support conditions, plate aspect ratios on deformation, and thermal-stresses and dynamic properties .Various experimental models were tested to determine the transient temperature distributions, transient thermal strain, frequency and mode shape of heated plate. The results compared with FE results

Book Thermal Stresses in Severe Environments

Download or read book Thermal Stresses in Severe Environments written by D. P. Hasselman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 727 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Thermal Stresses in ~~terials and Structures in Severe Thermal Environments constitutes the proceedings of an international conference held at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA, on ~1arch 19, 20 and 21, 1980. The purpose of the conference was to bring together experts in the areas of heat transfer, theoretical and applied mechanics amd materials science and engineering, with a.common interest in the highly interdisciplinary nature of the thermal stress problem. It is the hope of the program chairmen that the resulting interac tion has led to a greater understanding of the underlying prin ciples of the thermal stress problem and to an improved design and selection of materials for structures subjected to high thermal stresses. The program chairmen gratefully acknowledge the financial assistance for the conference provided by the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, the Army Research Office and the Office of Naval Research as well as the Departments of Engineering Science and Mechanics and Materials Engineering at Virginia Poly technic Institute and State University. A number of professional societies also provided mailing lists for the program at no nominal cost The Associate Director, Mr. R. J. Harshberger and his staff at the Conference Center for Continuing Education at VPI and SU should be recognized especially for their coordination of the con ference activities, lunches and banquet. Provost John D. Wilson gave a most enlightening and provocative after-dinner speech.

  • Author : Witold Nowacki
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2013-10-22
  • ISBN : 1483162486
  • Pages : 579 pages

Download or read book Thermoelasticity written by Witold Nowacki and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermoelasticity, Second Edition reviews advances in thermoelasticity and covers topics ranging from stationary problems of thermoelasticity to variational theorems of stationary thermoelasticity; stresses due to the action of a discontinuous temperature field in an infinite elastic body; the action of heat sources in the elastic space; and thermal inclusions in an infinite disc and semi-infinite disc. Three different sets of differential equations describing the fields of strain and temperature are presented. This book is comprised of 12 chapters and begins with a discussion on basic relations and equations of thermoelasticity. Thermoelasticity is treated as a synthesis of the theory of elasticity and the theory of heat conduction. Some particular cases of thermoelasticity are then investigated, including stationary problems, the theory of thermal stresses, and classical dynamic elasticity. Dynamic effects due to the action of a non-stationary temperature field are examined, along with plane harmonic waves in an elastic space and thermal stresses in plates, shells, and viscoelastic bodies. The final chapter focuses on micropolar thermoelasticity, magnetothermoelasticity, and thermopiezoelectricity. This monograph will be of interest to physicists and mechanical engineers.
