Book Computational Fluid Dynamics for Sport Simulation

Download or read book Computational Fluid Dynamics for Sport Simulation written by Martin Peters and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-26 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All over the world sport plays a prominent role in society: as a leisure activity for many, as an ingredient of culture, as a business and as a matter of national prestige in such major events as the World Cup in soccer or the Olympic Games. Hence, it is not surprising that science has entered the realm of sports, and, in particular, that computer simulation has become highly relevant in recent years. This is explored in this book by choosing five different sports as examples, demonstrating that computational science and engineering (CSE) can make essential contributions to research on sports topics on both the fundamental level and, eventually, by supporting athletes’ performance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Mesh Generation Mesh generation is the practice of creating a mesh, a subdivision of a continuous geometric space into discrete geometric and topological cells.Often these cells form a simplicial complex.Usually the cells partition the geometric input domain.Mesh cells are used as discrete local approximations of the larger domain. Meshes are created by computer algorithms, often with human guidance through a GUI, depending on the complexity of the domain and the type of mesh desired.A typical goal is to create a mesh that accurately captures the input domain geometry, with high-quality (well-shaped) cells, and without so many cells as to make subsequent calculations intractable. The mesh should also be fine in areas that are important for the subsequent calculations. How you will benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Mesh generation Chapter 2: Finite element method Chapter 3: Partial differential equation Chapter 4: Computational fluid dynamics Chapter 5: Numerical methods for partial differential equations Chapter 6: Elliptic partial differential equation Chapter 7: Finite difference method Chapter 8: Numerical continuation Chapter 9: Finite volume method Chapter 10: Isogeometric analysis (II) Answering the public top questions about mesh generation. (III) Real world examples for the usage of mesh generation in many fields. Who this book is for Professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, enthusiasts, hobbyists, and those who want to go beyond basic knowledge or information for any kind of Mesh Generation.

Book Numerical Solutions of the Euler Equations for Steady Flow Problems

Download or read book Numerical Solutions of the Euler Equations for Steady Flow Problems written by Albrecht Eberle and published by Vieweg+Teubner Verlag. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last decade has seen a dramatic increase of our abilities to solve numerically the governing equations of fluid mechanics. In design aerodynamics the classical potential-flow methods have been complemented by higher modelling-level methods. Euler solvers, and for special purposes, already Navier-Stokes solvers are in use. The authors of this book have been working on the solution of the Euler equations for quite some time. While the first two of us have worked mainly on algorithmic problems, the third has been concerned off and on with modelling and application problems of Euler methods. When we started to write this book we decided to put our own work at the center of it. This was done because we thought, and we leave this to the reader to decide, that our work has attained over the years enough substance in order to justify a book. The problem which we soon faced, was that the field still is moving at a fast pace, for instance because hyper sonic computation problems became more and more important.

Book Transfinite Mappings and Their Application to Grid Generation

Download or read book Transfinite Mappings and Their Application to Grid Generation written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The two essential ingredients of any boundary value problem are the field equations which describe the physics of the problem and a set of relations which specify the geometry of the problem domain. Mesh generations or grid generators are preprocessors which decompose the problem domain into a large number of interconnected finite elements or curvilinear finite difference stencils. A number of such techniques have been developed over the pat decade to alleviate the frustration and reduce the time involved in the tedious manual subdividing of a complex-shaped region or 3-D structure into finite elements. Our purpose here is to describe how the techniques of bivariate and trivariate blending function interpolation, which were originally developed for and applied to geometric problems of computer-aided design of sculptured surfaces and 3-D solids, can be adapted and applied to the geometric problems of grid generation. In contrast to other techniques which require the numerical solution of complex partial differential equations (and, hence, a great deal of computing), the transfinite methods proposed herein are computationally inexpensive.

Book Mesh Generation and Adaptation

Download or read book Mesh Generation and Adaptation written by Rubén Sevilla and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-18 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The developments in mesh generation are usually driven by the needs of new applications and/or novel algorithms. The last decade has seen a renewed interest in mesh generation and adaptation by the computational engineering community, due to the challenges introduced by complex industrial problems.Another common challenge is the need to handle complex geometries. Nowadays, it is becoming obvious that geometry should be persistent throughout the whole simulation process. Several methodologies that can carry the geometric information throughout the simulation stage are available, but due to the novelty of these methods, the generation of suitable meshes for these techniques is still the main obstacle for the industrial uptake of this technology. This book will cover different aspects of mesh generation and adaptation, with particular emphasis on cutting-edge mesh generation techniques for advanced discretisation methods and complex geometries.

Book Applications of Mesh Generation to Complex 3 D Configurations

Download or read book Applications of Mesh Generation to Complex 3 D Configurations written by North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development. Fluid Dynamics Panel. Specialists' Meeting and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The AGARD Fluid Dynamics Panel sponsored this Symposium to provide a survey of the capabilities of the CFD community for griding complex 3-D configurations. The intent was to provide some insight to the present state of grid generation for complex configurations to help assess whether this task presents a long-term stumbling block to the routine use of CFD in aerodynamic applications. To this end, the meeting was structured in five sessions: General Surveys, Algebraic Grid Generation, Block Structured Meshes, Multiblock-Adaptive Meshes and Unstructured Meshes. Thwenty-two papers from these sessions amply gemonstrated that the viability of a numerical solution depends directly on the quality of the mesh and surface representation as measured by its spacing and resolution. Of Particular interest was the mesh generation for complex configurations, such as advanced fighter or transport aircraft, missiles and space vehicles, where complex geometries and/or complex flowfields have to be analysed. Results from this meeting indicate that geometry discretization and generation of meshes for complex 3-D configurations in aerospace will continue to be time- and cost-consuming operations fro some time to come.
