Book Radiative Heat Transfer in Two Phase Media

Download or read book Radiative Heat Transfer in Two Phase Media written by K. S. Adzerikho and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-11-10 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiative Heat Transfer in Two-Phase Media is devoted to discussing and further developing the radiative heat transfer theory. It provides thorough coverage of studies of physical processes in emitting two-phase media as applied to combustion chambers of heat power plants. Numerical methods are developed, and a number of reliable approximate solutions to radiative heat transfer problems are proposed. Widely accepted thermophysical concepts, such as effective temperature, effective emissivity of heat carriers, and thermal efficiency of screens, are covered in detail. The book also provides programs for computing spectroscopic characteristics of emitting two-phase media, which are useful for solving complex radiative heat transfer problems. Radiative Heat Transfer in Two-Phase Media is an important book for the library of any heat transfer specialist.

Book 3D Radiative Transfer in Cloudy Atmospheres

Download or read book 3D Radiative Transfer in Cloudy Atmospheres written by Alexander Marshak and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-05-27 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developments in three-dimensional cloud radiation over the past few decades are assessed and distilled into this contributed volume. Chapters are authored by subject-matter experts who address a broad audience of graduate students, researchers, and anyone interested in cloud-radiation processes in the solar and infrared spectral regions. After two introductory chapters and a section on the fundamental physics and computational techniques, the volume extensively treats two main application areas: the impact of clouds on the Earth's radiation budget, which is an essential aspect of climate modeling; and remote observation of clouds, especially with the advanced sensors on current and future satellite missions.

Book Stochastic Radiation Transfer Final Report

Download or read book Stochastic Radiation Transfer Final Report written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The original proposal was to produce a new cloud parameterization based upon an innovative stochastic radiative transfer techniques, in which the parameters will be validated by ARM data. The authors intended to construct a subgrid model for use in GCMs that would account for the effects of unresolved clouds on radiation flow, and they pointed out that scattering could be accommodated in this approach. They were to use ARM site data on cloud morphology and cloud/radiative energy balance in developing the new model. The data was to be supplemented by satellite data since they knew the projected rich set of ARM data would not be available immediately. The new technique was to be first checked out by incorporation into the Scripps single-column model, and after a period of refinement and proving itself was to be incorporated in a version of the CCM code. Among the minor goals was the use of these studies to provide guidance to ARM program managers and experimenters and to engender intercommunity scientific collaboration between private industry, the DOE/ARM and academia.

Book Stochastic Wave Propagation

Download or read book Stochastic Wave Propagation written by K. Sobczyk and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a concise, unified exposition of the existing methods of analysis of linear stochastic waves with particular reference to the most recent results. Both scalar and vector waves are considered. Principal attention is concentrated on wave propagation in stochastic media and wave scattering at stochastic surfaces. However, discussion extends also to various mathematical aspects of stochastic wave equations and problems of modelling stochastic media.

Book Radiation Transfer

Download or read book Radiation Transfer written by L. A. Apresyan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors expound on non-traditional phenomena for transfer theory, which are nevertheless of considerable interest in wave measurements, and bring the advances of transfer theory as close as possible to the practical needs of those working in all areas of wave physics. The book opens with a historical overview of the topic, then moves on to examine the phenomenological theory of radiative transport, blending traditional theory with original ideas. The transport equation is derived from first principles, and the ensuing discussion of the diffraction content of the transport equation and non-classical radiometry is illustrated by practical examples from various fields of physics. Popular techniques of solving the transport equation are discussed, paying particular attention to wave physics and computing the coherence function. The book also examines various problems which are no longer covered by the traditional radiative transfer theory, such as enhanced backscattering and weak localization phenomena, nonlinear transport problems and kinetic equations for waves. This monograph bridges the gap between the simple power balance description in radiative transfer theory and modern coherence theory. It will be of interest to researchers and professionals working across a wide range of fields from optics, acoustics and radar theory to astrophysics, radioastronomy and remote sensing, as well as to students in these areas.

Book Benchmarks and Models for 1 D Radiation Transport in Stochastic Participating Media

Download or read book Benchmarks and Models for 1 D Radiation Transport in Stochastic Participating Media written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Benchmark calculations for radiation transport coupled to a material temperature equation in a 1-D slab and 1-D spherical geometry binary random media are presented. The mixing statistics are taken to be homogeneous Markov statistics in the 1-D slab but only approximately Markov statistics in the 1-D sphere. The material chunk sizes are described by Poisson distribution functions. The material opacities are first taken to be constant and then allowed to vary as a strong function of material temperature. Benchmark values and variances for time evolution of the ensemble average of material temperature energy density and radiation transmission are computed via a Monte Carlo type method. These benchmarks are used as a basis for comparison with three other approximate methods of solution. One of these approximate methods is simple atomic mix. The second approximate model is an adaptation of what is commonly called the Levermore-Pomraning model and which is referred to here as the standard model. It is shown that recasting the temperature coupling as a type of effective scattering can be useful in formulating the third approximate model, an adaptation of a model due to Su and Pomraning which attempts to account for the effects of scattering in a stochastic context. This last adaptation shows consistent improvement over both the atomic mix and standard models when used in the 1-D slab geometry but shows limited improvement in the 1-D spherical geometry. Benchmark values are also computed for radiation transmission from the 1-D sphere without material heating present. This is to evaluate the performance of the standard model on this geometry--something which has never been done before. All of the various tests demonstrate the importance of stochastic structure on the solution. Also demonstrated are the range of usefulness and limitations of a simple atomic mix formulation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the reviews: "Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969 and it has already become one of the fundamental publications in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics and neighbouring sciences. It is the most important English-language abstracting journal in the mentioned branches. ...The abstracts are classified under more than a hundred subject categories, thus permitting a quick survey of the whole extended material. The AAA is a valuable and important publication for all students and scientists working in the fields of astronomy and related sciences. As such it represents a necessary ingredient of any astronomical library all over the world." Space Science Reviews#1 "Dividing the whole field plus related subjects into 108 categories, each work is numbered and most are accompanied by brief abstracts. Fairly comprehensive cross-referencing links relevant papers to more than one category, and exhaustive author and subject indices are to be found at the back, making the catalogues easy to use. The series appears to be so complete in its coverage and always less than a year out of date that I shall certainly have to make a little more space on those shelves for future volumes."
