Download or read book Transatlantic Tug of war written by Ingo Peters and published by Lit Verlag. This book was released on 2006 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the rhetoric on transatlantic relations the consensus prevails that in order to cope with global challenges, constructive engagement and effective cooperation between the United States and its European partners is required. However, regarding actual policy-making, particularly subsequent to 9/11 and the war in Iraq, conflicting agendas and policies on both sides of the Atlantic are easily discernible. The articles in this book deal with various societal, political and security issues constituting frame and context of the transatlantic relationship - in order to explain the contradiction between declarations and deeds and to evaluate the chances for narrowing the policy gap.

Spies, codes, and guerrillas played unprecedentedly critical roles in the Second World War, exploited by every nation in the struggle to gain secret knowledge of its foes, and to sow havoc behind the fronts. Download or read book Operation Gladio written by Paul L. Williams and published by Prometheus Books. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This disturbing exposé describes a secret alliance forged at the close of World War II by the CIA, the Sicilian and US mafias, and the Vatican to thwart the possibility of a Communist invasion of Europe. Journalist Paul L. Williams presents evidence suggesting the existence of “stay-behind” units in many European countries consisting of five thousand to fifteen thousand military operatives. According to the author’s research, the initial funding for these guerilla armies came from the sale of large stocks of SS morphine that had been smuggled out of Germany and Italy and of bogus British bank notes that had been produced in concentration camps by skilled counterfeiters. As the Cold War intensified, the units were used not only to ward off possible invaders, but also to thwart the rise of left-wing movements in South America and NATO-based countries by terror attacks. Williams argues that Operation Gladio soon gave rise to the toppling of governments, wholesale genocide, the formation of death squads, financial scandals on a grand scale, the creation of the mujahideen, an international narcotics network, and, most recently, the ascendancy of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, a Jesuit cleric with strong ties to Operation Condor (an outgrowth of Gladio in Argentina) as Pope Francis I. Sure to be controversial, Operation Gladio connects the dots in ways the mainstream media often overlooks.

Download or read book Empire of Chaos The Roving Eye Collection written by Pepe Escobar and published by Nimble Books. This book was released on 2021-01-23 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Syria and Iraq to Ukraine, from AfPak to Libya, from Iran to Russia, and from the Persian Gulf to China, foreign correspondent Pepe Escobar, author of The Roving Eye column for Asia Times/Hong Kong, crisscrosses what the Pentagon calls the "arc of instability." As Escobar tells it in the introduction, "the columns selected for this volume follow the period 2009-2014 - the Obama years so far. A continuum with previous volumes published by Nimble Books does apply. Globalistan, from 2007, was an extended reportage/warped travel book across the Bush years, where I argued the world was being plunged into Liquid War - alluding to energy flows but also to the liquid modernity character of post-modern war. Red Zone Blues, also from 2007, was a vignette - an extended reportage centering on the Baghdad surge. And Obama does Globalistan, from 2009, examined how the hyperpower could embark on a "change we can believe in". The outcome, as these columns arguably reflect, is Empire of Chaos - where a plutocracy progressively projects its own internal disintegration upon the whole world.""You will find some key overlapping nations/themes/expressions/acronyms in these columns; Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Central Asia, China, Russia, Ukraine, Pipelineistan, BRICS, EU, NATO, GCC, the Global South, GWOT (the global war on terror), The New Great Game, Full Spectrum Dominance. You will also find a progressive drift towards not conventional war, but above all economic war - manifestations of Liquid War.""Incrementally, I have been arguing that Washington's number one objective now is to prevent a full economic integration of Eurasia that would leave the U.S. as a non-hegemon, or worse still, an outsider. Thus the three-pronged strategy of "pivoting to Asia" (containment of China); Ukraine (containment of Russia); and beefing up NATO (subjugation of Europe, and NATO as Global Robocop)."Book the ultimate trip to the Empire of Chaos, and see how the U.S. - and the West - are tackling the emergence of a multipolar world. Pepe Escobar is an independent geopolitical analyst. He writes for RT, Sputnik, TomDispatch, Strategic Culture Foundation, and is a frequent contributor to websites and radio and TV shows ranging from the US to East Asia. He is the former roving correspondent for Asia Times Online, where he also wrote the column The Roving Eye from 2000 to 2014. Born in Brazil, he's been a foreign correspondent since 1985, and has lived in London, Paris, Milan, Los Angeles, Washington, Bangkok and Hong Kong. He is the author of "Globalistan" (2007), "Red Zone Blues" (2007), "Obama does Globalistan" (2009) and "Empire of Chaos" (2014), all published by Nimble Books. Download or read book A Lie Told Often Enough Becomes The Truth written by Eric Schaeffer and published by . This book was released on 2021-01-30 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the most destructive weapon of all time? Is it a stick? A rock... Sword... Gun... Atomic Bomb? Each of these is responsible for their fair share of pain and suffering, but none have come close to the amount of destruction caused by one other weapon. This weapon does not look like other weapons and it appears far less threatening. Most of the time, its work goes unnoticed by its victims. One minute, it can be seen in a room full of military advisors, and the next it can be in the hands of a man sitting on a park bench. It can be waved overhead by an angry mob, and it can be beside a mother as she feeds her baby. When an enemy wants to conquer a group of people, his or her first tactic is not always physical harm. Their first and often most successful tactic is to change people's minds. After all, why should an enemy try to kill a group of people when he or she can enslave them instead? Propaganda is the most destructive weapon of all time. The art of deceiving the masses has been responsible for more pain and suffering than anyone can calculate. All a strategic enemy has to do is articulate his or her deception in a convincing way, then repeat it so often that the people begin to embrace it. In other words, "A lie told often enough becomes the truth." What makes propaganda so powerful is that people do not know they are under attack until it is too late. In this way, it can be comparable to rat poison. Rat poison is made up of 95 percent corn, and 5 percent poison. When an unsuspecting rodent comes upon it, he thinks it is safe to eat, as the majority of rat poison smells like food and tastes like food. However, it is that 5 percent that will kill him. Likewise, the most effective lie is the one wrapped in truth. In many countries, Muslims are instructed to study and memorize the Qur'an from the time they are toddlers. This narrative is repeated so often that it creates a stronghold in the mind and the children eventually learn to accept the narrative as "truth." A bias sets in that prohibits these individuals from looking at other views objectively. For centuries, Islamic scholars have been taking advantage of whole nations with this method of indoctrination. These practices seem to be especially effective in areas where education is limited. This is an unfortunate dilemma, especially in light of the many errors found in the Islamic writings. The goal of this book is to expose the falsehoods and manipulations found within Islam. This will be accomplished by doing a comparative study of the Qur'an, Hadith, the Bible, and historical evidence. This material, when examined unbiasedly, provides convincing evidence that the Qur'an is not preserved, historically accurate, or a direct message from God. It is the hope of the author that the reader will take the time to test and approve this material, not with an indoctrinated and biased perspective, but with equal scales and sound scholarship.
