Download or read book Transactions of the New England Cotton Manufacturers Association written by New England Cotton Manufact Association and published by . This book was released on 2016-07-03 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Transactions of the New England Cotton Manufacturers' Association: Annual Meeting, Held at Chipman Hall, Tremont Temple, Boston, Mass;, April 29-30, 1896 One large item of expense the past year has been the room of the Association in the John Hancock building on Devonshire Street. This room is the headquarters of the Association, and was started as an experiment, and the Board finds that since May to the present time there have been about 206 visitors to the room. Those members living farthest from Boston use the room as their headquarters during their stay in Boston. We have the nucleus of a library and files of all the textile papers which must be taken care of. We must have headquarters. They can be simple or elaborate. It is merely a question how we use our income when the annual dues are at the low rate of $5 per member per annum. For this sum each member the past year has received 637 pages of Transactions, and I think in the Transactions alone they have had value received.
