En regard des textes antérieurs dans le même domaine, le TRAITE PRATIQUE ET RAISONNE apparaît comme le premier ouvrage moderne de phytothérapie en Français. Largement exploitée jusqu'à nos jours par les livres de vulgarisation - souvent sans mention de source-, la somme de Cazin lègue toujours ses observations, et beaucoup de prescriptions aux grands traités de phytothérapie, en France comme à l'étranger.
