Download or read book Protocol Design and Analysis for Cooperative Wireless Networks written by Wei Song and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-03 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the design and analysis of protocols for cooperative wireless networks, especially at the medium access control (MAC) layer and for crosslayer design between the MAC layer and the physical layer. It highlights two main points that are often neglected in other books: energy-efficiency and spatial random distribution of wireless devices. Effective methods in stochastic geometry for the design and analysis of wireless networks are also explored. After providing a comprehensive review of existing studies in the literature, the authors point out the challenges that are worth further investigation. Then, they introduce several novel solutions for cooperative wireless network protocols that reduce energy consumption and address spatial random distribution of wireless nodes. For each solution, the book offers a clear system model and problem formulation, details of the proposed cooperative schemes, comprehensive performance analysis, and extensive numerical and simulation results that validate the analysis and examine the performance under various conditions. The last section of this book reveals several potential directions for the research on cooperative wireless networks that deserve future exploration. Researchers, professionals, engineers, and consultants in wireless communication and mobile networks will find this book valuable. It is also helpful for technical staff in mobile network operations, wireless equipment manufacturers, wireless communication standardization bodies, and governmental regulation agencies.

Download or read book Green Heterogeneous Wireless Networks written by Muhammad Ismail and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-08-12 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the emerging research topic "green (energy efficient) wireless networks" which has drawn huge attention recently from both academia and industry. This topic is highly motivated due to important environmental, financial, and quality-of-experience (QoE) considerations. Specifically, the high energy consumption of the wireless networks manifests in approximately 2% of all CO2 emissions worldwide. This book presents the authors’ visions and solutions for deployment of energy efficient (green) heterogeneous wireless communication networks. The book consists of three major parts. The first part provides an introduction to the "green networks" concept, the second part targets the green multi-homing resource allocation problem, and the third chapter presents a novel deployment of device-to-device (D2D) communications and its successful integration in Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets). The book is novel in that it specifically targets green networking in a heterogeneous wireless medium, which represents the current and future wireless communication medium faced by the existing and next generation communication networks. The book focuses on multi-homing resource allocation, exploiting network cooperation, and integrating different and new network technologies (radio frequency and VLC), expanding the network coverage and integrating new device centric communication paradigms such as D2D Communications. Whilst the book discusses a significant research topic supported with advanced mathematical analysis, the resulting algorithms and solutions are explained and summarized in a way that is easy to follow and grasp. This book is suitable for networking and telecommunications engineers, researchers in industry and academia, as well as students and instructors.

Download or read book Wireless Communications 3rd Edition written by Andreas F. Molisch and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-12-06 with total page 1014 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Wireless communications is one of the most important modern technologies and is interwoven with all aspects of our daily lives. When we wake up, we check social media, email, and news on our smartphones. Before getting up, we adjust the room temperature through a Bluetooth-connected thermostat. After we leave the house and activate the Wi-Fi security cameras, we order a rideshare on a phone app that recognizes our location and are driven to a factory where manufacturing robots are connected and controlled via 5G. And that is only the start of the day.... It is thus no wonder that wireless infrastructure, user devices, and networks are among the largest and most critical industries in most countries. As the demands for wireless services constantly increase, so are the requirements for new products, and for engineers that can develop these products and bring them to market. Such engineers need a deep understanding of both the fundamentals that govern the behavior of wireless systems, the current standardized systems implementations, and more recent research developments that will influence the next generation of products. The goal of this book is to help students, researchers, and practicing engineers to acquire, refresh, or update this knowledge. It is designed to lead them from the fundamental principles and building blocks, such as digital modulation, fading, and reuse of spectrum, to more advanced technologies that underly modern wireless systems, such as multicarrier and multiantenna transmission, to a description of the standardized systems dominating 5G cellular, Wi-Fi, and short-range communications, to the cutting-edge research that will form the basis for beyond-5G systems. In brief, the book leads the reader from the fundamentals to beyond 5G"--
