Book Topics in Carbocyclic Chemistry

Download or read book Topics in Carbocyclic Chemistry written by D. Lloyd and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Wilson Baker, F.R.S. Organic compounds are classified as aliphatic, carbocyclic, or heterocyclic, though in the very many cases where two or more such characteristic groupings are present, the classification chosen will depend on the relative chemical importance of these groupings to the particular investigation in hand, and perhaps even to the outlook of the investigator. Traditionally, however, ring compounds with attached aliphatic groups are referred to as cyclic, and any hetero cyclic grouping serves to categorise a molecule as heterocyclic. In these reviews it is the intention to deal, so far as possible, with carbocyclic compounds only, as borne out by this Volume I of the series with articles on the benzidine rearrangement, the bicyclo [3,3,1]nonanes, Feist's acid, and the annulenes. The difficulty in keeping rigidly to carbocyclic substances is, however, apparent in the chapter on 'The Biosynthesis of Carbocyclic Compounds', where many heterocyclic compounds are encountered, as is inevitable in any reasonably comprehensive account of biosynthesis.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book continues the well-established and authoritative series on name reactions in organic chemistry by focusing on name reactions on ring formation. Ring formating reactions have found widespread applicability in traditional organic synthesis, medicinal/pharmaceuticals, agricultural, fine chemicals, and of late, especially in polymer science.

Book Advances in Alicyclic Chemistry

Download or read book Advances in Alicyclic Chemistry written by Harold Hart and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Alicyclic Chemistry, Volume 3 covers papers about the advances in alicyclic chemistry. The book presents a paper on the synthetic application of carbocyclic ring contraction reaction, with topics about rearrangements via carbonium ions, ring contractions via anionic intermediates or divalent carbon intermediates, photochemical ring contractions, and thermal rearrangements. The text also provides papers on the conformational analysis of cyclohexane and cyclohexene derivatives and on the review and analysis of modern theory about eliminations from cycloaliphatic derivatives. Chemists will find the book invaluable.

Book Carbocyclic Cage Compounds

Book Carbocyclic and Heterocyclic Cage Compounds and Their Building Blocks Synthesis Structure Mechanism and Theory

Download or read book Carbocyclic and Heterocyclic Cage Compounds and Their Building Blocks Synthesis Structure Mechanism and Theory written by K.K. Laali and published by JAI Press. This book was released on 1999-04-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbocyclic and Heterocyclic Cage Compounds and their Building Blocks is the first independent Supplement in the series. The collection of essays presented is very much at the forefront of research in this active area and the topics discussed complement and evolve from the more general treatment in earlier volumes of the Series. Furthermore it was appropriate to produce a collection of work at the cutting edge of the field, where progress in heterocyclic cage compounds are discussed together in a single volume, thus avoiding the organic versus organometallic barriers in an effort to raise more awareness concerning their similarities and differences. Since phosphaalkynes serve as building blocks for a host of phosphorus-carbon cage compounds discussion of the versatile chemistry of phosphaalkynes is relevant. Likewise, discussion of the versatile chemistry of phosphaalkenes is appropriate since they function as synthetic precursors to phosphaalkynes and are the products of electrophilic addition to phosphaalkynes.

Book Alicyclic Chemistry

Download or read book Alicyclic Chemistry written by Martin Grossel and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Alicyclic Chemistry' provides an overview of the study of non-aromatic organic compounds made up of one or more carbocyclic rings. Such compounds, which range from simple ring systems to complex bridged and polycyclic structures, provide a framework for the understanding of many concepts which underlie organic chemistry. The topics covered include a discussion of the stability and conformational behaviour of carbocyclic ring systems, and the factors which control the choice of synthetic methods and reactivity of such compounds. Many aspects of alicyclic chemistry provide an important framework for a proper understanding of the behaviour of organic molecules.

Book Introduction to Heterocyclic Chemistry

Download or read book Introduction to Heterocyclic Chemistry written by Peter A. Jacobi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-08-13 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique approach to a core topic in organic chemistry presented by an experienced teacher to students and professionals Heterocyclic rings are present in the majority of known natural products, contributing to enormous structural diversity. In addition, they often possess significant biological activity. Medicinal chemists have embraced this last property in designing most of the small molecule drugs in use today. This book offers readers a fundamental understanding of the basics of heterocyclic chemistry and their occurrence in natural products such as amino acids, DNA, vitamins, and antibiotics. Based on class lectures that the author has developed over more than 40 years of teaching, it focuses on the chemistry of such heterocyclic substances and how they differ from carbocyclic systems. Introductory Heterocyclic Chemistry offers in-depth chapters covering naturally occurring heterocycles; properties of aromatic heterocycles; π-deficient heterocycles; π-excessive heterocycles; and ring transformations of heterocycles. It then offers an overview of 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions before finishing up with a back-to-basics section on nitriles and amidines. Presents a conversational approach to a fundamental topic in organic chemistry teaching Offers a unique look at this core organic chemistry topic via important naturally occurring and/or biologically active heterocycles Based on the author's many years of class lectures for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as pharmaceutical-industry courses Clear, concise, and accessible for advanced students of chemistry to gain a fundamental understanding of the basics of heterocyclic chemistry Introductory Heterocyclic Chemistry is an excellent text for undergraduate and graduate students as well as chemists in industrial environments in chemistry, pharmacy, medicinal chemistry, and biology.
