Book Nanostructured Titanium Dioxide Materials

Download or read book Nanostructured Titanium Dioxide Materials written by Ali Reza Khataee and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2012 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past decade, research and development in the area of synthesis and applications of different nanostructured titanium dioxide have become tremendous. This book briefly describes properties, production, modification and applications of nanostructured titanium dioxide focusing in particular on photocatalytic activity. The physicochemical properties of nanostructured titanium dioxide are highlighted and the links between properties and applications are emphasized. The preparation of TiO2 nanomaterials, including nanoparticles, nanorods, nanowires, nanosheets, nanofibers, and nanotubes are primarily categorized by their preparation method (sol-gel and hydrothermal processes). Examples of early applications of nanostructured titanium dioxide in dye-sensitized solar cells, hydrogen production and storage, sensors, rechargeable batteries, electrocatalysis, self-cleaning and antibacterial surfaces and photocatalytic cancer treatment are reviewed. The review of modifications of TiO2 nanomaterials is mainly focused on the research related to the modifications of the optical properties of TiO2 nanomaterials, since many applications of TiO2 nanomaterials are closely related to their optical properties. Photocatalytic removal of various pollutants using pure TiO2 nanomaterials, TiO2-based nanoclays and non-metal doped nanostructured TiO2 are also discussed.

Book Titanium Dioxide Photocatalysis

Download or read book Titanium Dioxide Photocatalysis written by Vladimiro Dal Santo and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-05-27 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the seminal work of Fujishima et al. dates back to 1971, TiO2 still remains the most diffused and studied semiconductor, employed in photo-oxidation processes for cleantech (i.e., polluted water and air treatment), in solar fuel production (mainly hydrogen production by water photo splitting), and in Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) processes by CO2 photoreduction. The eleven articles, among them three reviews, in this book cover recent results and research trends of various aspects of titanium dioxide photocatalysis, with the chief aim of improving the final efficiency of TiO2-based materials. Strategies include doping, metal co-catalyst deposition, and the realization of composites with plasmonic materials, other semiconductors, and graphene. Photocatalysts with high efficiency and selectivity can be also obtained by controlling the precise crystal shape (and homogeneous size) and the organization in superstructures from ultrathin films to hierarchical nanostructures. Finally, the theoretical modeling of TiO2 nanoparticles is discussed and highlighted. The range of topics addressed in this book will stimulate the reader’s interest as well as provide a valuable source of information for researchers in academia and industry.

Book Titanium Dioxide Versatile Solid Crystalline

Download or read book Titanium Dioxide Versatile Solid Crystalline written by Lourduraj Stephen and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the several choices, titanium dioxide (TiO2) is the most efficient material and has attracted great attention because of its certain specific properties like high permittivity, refractive index, efficiency, low cost, chemical inertness, non-toxicity, photocatalytic activity, photostability and capability of decomposing a wide variety of organic compounds. In the field of dental, orthopedic and osteosynthesis applications, the titanium and its native oxide (titanium dioxide) are used as an implant material. TiO2 is used in an extremely wide range of commercial applications and research areas including: (i) TiO2 powder: as a white pigment in paint, plastic, inks, paper and cosmetics; in washing powder, toothpaste, sunscreen, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, photographic plates, for creating synthetic gemstones; and as a catalyst. (ii) TiO2 thin films: for ultra-thin capacitors and MOSFETs due to its extremely high dielectric constant; as humidity and oxygen sensor due to the dependence of its electrical conductance on the gases present; as an optical coating and a material for waveguides due to its high refractive index; as a protective coating and corrosion-resistant barrier; and as a photoanode in solar cells due its photoelectric activity.

Book Reaction Kinetics and the Development and Operation of Catalytic Processes

Download or read book Reaction Kinetics and the Development and Operation of Catalytic Processes written by G.F. Froment and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-04-03 with total page 663 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reaction Kinetics and the Development and Operation of Catalytic Processes is a trendsetter. The Keynote Lectures have been authored by top scientists and cover a broad range of topics like fundamental aspects of surface chemistry, in particular dynamics and spillover, the modeling of reaction mechanisms, with special focus on the importance of transient experimentation and the application of kinetics in reactor design. Fundamental and applied kinetic studies are well represented. More than half of these deal with transient kinetics, a new trend made possible by recent sophisticated experimental equipment and the awareness that transient experimentation provides more information and insight into the microphenomena occurring on the catalyst surface than steady state techniques. The trend is not limited to purely kinetic studies since the great majority of the papers dealing with reactors also focus on transients and even deliberate transient operation. It is to be expected that this trend will continue and amplify as the community becomes more aware of the predictive potential of fundamental kinetics when combined with detailed realistic modeling of the reactor operation.
