Like all the women in her family, Eva's emotions wreak havoc on nearby electrical devices. Despite living in modern-day Los Angeles, she can't have a cell phone, use a computer, or be in a car for more than a few minutes without killing it. Keeping her otherworldly nature hidden defines every aspect of Eva's life—but never more so than when a stranger threatens to expose her secret to the world, forcing Eva into a bizarre scheme to hide a stolen baby elephant. Hudson is in the wrong place at the right time, charging to Eva's rescue...whether she wants his help or not. Sexy and resourceful—and a suspicious, analytical electrical engineer—Hudson is the last person Eva needs entangled in her problems. However, as they dodge repeated attempts on her life made by ruthless corporations hunting the elephant, Eva finds it impossible to quell her growing affection for Hudson. But if she lets her emotions free and falls in love with Hudson, neither of them will survive. *This standalone romantic comedy contains on-the-page heat.* PRAISE FOR TINY GLITCHES "I laughed out loud too many times to count, and thoroughly enjoyed myself" Pure Textuality "an entertaining hard-to-put-down read . . . the action never stops" The Book Quarry

Book All This Fun and a Paycheck Too

Download or read book All This Fun and a Paycheck Too written by Tom Clifford and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-11-29 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a collection of stories: assignments from a long and enjoyable engineering career as well as anecdotes and experiences from summer jobs, vacations, and consulting. The focus is technical; each little story pivots on some scientific principle. The intent is three-fold: a) genealogical: to capture descriptions of a lifetime of fun times and accomplishments for descendents who might be curious about old great-grandpa Tom; b) to inspire a next generation of youngsters to consider pursuit of engineering, science, and critical thought, as a door to a fruitful life; and c) to try to bridge that pervasive "boring and/or over-my-head" gap by showing that "engineering" concepts are essentially common-sense and intuitive (you learned them in kindergarten playground), and the jargon should not be off-putting. The book's message: Engineering/science can be fun; it happens every day and everywhere; a degree is not a prerequisite.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Aurora Award Finalist Six contestants. One haunted house. And a whole lot of bloody murder. B-grade horror masters the Gowan brothers have devised a new reality TV show with a killer hook. Six contestants compete for the chance to star in an upcoming slasher movie. All they have to do is survive one night in a “haunted” house and be voted Scream Queen. The setting is perfect: a crumbling Victorian mansion with a gruesome history and a former owner who turned out to be a serial killer. Throw in a few buckets of fake blood, a bunch of rubber body parts, and a cast of aspiring actors who’ll do anything for a close-up. An expert parapsychologist even warns the production team against disturbing the house’s dormant spirits. Fantastic publicity. Sure, the budget’s low, but the ratings are going to soar. Then the sun goes down. The cameras start rolling. And all hell really breaks loose... Edo van Belkom, winner of the Bram Stoker and Aurora Awards, is at his brilliantly twisted best in a novel that’s dark, witty, and utterly terrifying. REVIEWS “Great creepy fun! A post-modern edge-of-your-seat thriller, with enough smarts to know when to scare you and when to make you laugh. Having survived a decade in television, I thought I’d seen it all, but this book is actually SCARIER than meeting a Hollywood Network Executive!!” –Ron Oliver writer/director PROM NIGHT 3 & more “An ominous rollercoaster ride of a ghost story that is at once surprisingly simple and deceptively complex, a novel which exemplifies both the author’s penchant for comic horror and intense terror – not to mention a genuine love of horror movies ... SCREAM QUEEN rocks.” –Rue Morgue “A beach book for the horror crowd. Fun and fast-paced, the book is a terrific read.” –Creative Corner

Book Astrophysical Radiation Hydrodynamics

Download or read book Astrophysical Radiation Hydrodynamics written by Karl-Heinz A. Winkler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This NATO Advanced Research Workshop was devoted to the pre sentation, evaluation, and critical discussion of numerical methods in nonrelativistic and relativistic hydrodynamics, radia tive transfer, and radiation-coupled hydrodynamics. The unifying theme of the lectures was the successful application of these methods to challenging problems in astrophysics. The workshop was subdivided into 3 somewhat independent topics, each with their own subtheme. Under the heading radiation hydrodynamics were brought together context, theory, methodology, and application of radia tive transfer and radiation hydrodynamics in astrophysics. The intimate coupling between astronomy and radiation physics was underscored by examples from past and present research. Frame-dependence of both the equation of transfer (plus moments) and the underlying radiation quantities was discussed and clarified. Limiting regimes in radiation-coupled flow were identified and described; the dynamic diffusion regime received special emphasis. Numerical methods for continuum and line transfer equations in a given background were presented. Two examples of methods for computing dynamically coupled radia tion/matter fields were given. In l-d and assuming LTE the complete equations of radiation hydrodynamics can be solved with current computers. Such is not the case in 2- or 3-d, which were identified as target areas for research. The use of flux-limiters was vigorously discussed in this connection, and enlivened the meeting.
