Book Electrodeposition of Alloys

Download or read book Electrodeposition of Alloys written by Abner Brenner and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 677 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrodeposition of Alloys: Principles and Practice, Volume II: Practical and Specific Information provides sufficient information for preparing and operating alloy plating baths. This book is organized into five sections encompassing 21 chapters that also consider the facts and theory of alloy plating. The five sections discuss the five types of alloy plating system with respect to the plating variables. Each section deals with the fundamental bases of alloy deposition, which have been summed up in six principles. This book further examines the role of diffusion in alloy deposition and the role of the density versus potential relations in alloy deposition, as well as certain misconceptions regarding their value in alloy deposition have been pointed out. This book will prove useful to electrochemists, researchers, and electrochemistry teachers and students.

  • Author : Fathi Habashi
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2008-11-21
  • ISBN : 3527611924

Download or read book Alloys written by Fathi Habashi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-21 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In industry very few metals are used in their pure form; the majority are employed as a combination of a metal with other metals, nonmetals or metalloids. In this way some specific properties are improved, making the alloy more attractive than the pure metal. The present work comprises essential information on alloys in one compact volume. Classification, properties, preparation, applications, and economic aspects are discussed for alloy steels, primary-metal alloys, light-metal alloys, and some other alloy systems. The work is based on more than 30 articles from Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry and represents the effort of over 60 specialists. It supplies hundreds of top-quality illustrations, diagrams, and charts and provides hand-picked references for further study. An introductory overview of the subject is provided by the editor. The book is a handy yet authoritative reference work for the practicing metallurgist, but also for physical metallurgists, engineers and scientists in industry.

Book Alloying

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joseph R. Davis
  • Publisher : ASM International
  • Release : 2001-01-01
  • ISBN : 1615030638
  • Pages : 658 pages

Download or read book Alloying written by Joseph R. Davis and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alloying: Understanding the Basics is a comprehensive guide to the influence of alloy additions on mechanical properties, physical properties, corrosion and chemical behavior, and processing and manufacturing characteristics. The coverage considers "alloying" to include any addition of an element or compound that interacts with a base metal to influence properties. Thus, the book addresses the beneficial effects of major alloy additions, inoculants, dopants, grain refiners, and other elements that have been deliberately added to improve performance, as well the detrimental effects of minor elements or residual (tramp) elements included in charge materials or that result from improper melting or refining techniques. The content is presented in a concise, user-friendly format. Numerous figures and tables are provided. The coverage has been weighted to provided the most detailed information on the most industrially important materials.

Book Copper and Copper Alloys

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is a comprehensive guide to the selection and applications of copper and copper alloys, which constitute one of the largest and most diverse families of engineering materials. The handbook includes all of the essential information contained in the ASM Handbook series, as well as important reference information and data from a wide variety of ASM publications and industry sources.

Book Woldman s Engineering Alloys

Download or read book Woldman s Engineering Alloys written by John P. Frick and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 1369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation New edition of a reference that presents the values of properties typical for the most common alloy processing conditions, thus providing a starting point in the search for a suitable material that will allow, with proper use, all the necessary design limitations to be met (strength, toughness, corrosion resistance and electronic properties, etc.) The data is arranged alphabetically and contains information on the manufacturer, the properties of the alloy, and in some cases its use. The volume includes 32 tables that present such information as densities, chemical elements and symbols, physical constants, conversion factors, specification requirements, and compositions of various alloys and metals. Also contains a section on manufacturer listings with contact information. Edited by Frick, a professional engineering consultant. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com).

Book Oxidation of Zirconium and Zirconium Alloys

Download or read book Oxidation of Zirconium and Zirconium Alloys written by and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The oxidation rate was found to be relatively insensitive to various types of surface preparations in the temperature range 400 to 700 deg C. No dependence of reaction rate on oxygen pressure was observed. The cubic rate law also was obeyed by foil specimens at 700 deg C; however, the rate constants were slightly larger than values obtained from parallelepiped samples.

Book The Oxidation and Contamination of Titanium and Its Alloys

Download or read book The Oxidation and Contamination of Titanium and Its Alloys written by J. M. Ferguson and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental programs concerned with the oxidation of titanium and its alloys are reviewed and results compared with those predicted by theory. Wagner-Hauffe theory is used as the primary basis for comparison, and its inconsistencies are pointed out. Fifteen binary alloy systems involving titanium are covered, as well as a few ternary and commercial alloys. A short section discusses the effects of oxygen or nitrogen contamination on the mechanical properties of titanium and its alloys. (Author).

Book X ray Diffraction Investigation of Minor Phases of 20 High temperature Alloys

Download or read book X ray Diffraction Investigation of Minor Phases of 20 High temperature Alloys written by B. M. Rosenbaum and published by . This book was released on 1948 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of minor phases present in 20 high-temperature alloys resulted in identification of seven minor phases: columbium carbide, columbium nitride, titanium nitride, chromium carbide (Cr7C3), and carbides of the M23C6 and M6C types (in which the ratio of metal to carbon atoms is 23:6 and 6:1, respectively). Columbium and titanium were found to be very effective nitride and carbide formers. When neither titanium nor columbium is present and chromium is present in the order of 20 percent in these alloys, the minor phase identified changed from these alloys, the minor phase identified changed from Cr7C3 to M23C6 to M6C as the ratio of the molybdenum-plus-tungsten content to the carbon content increased.
