Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered what your pet is thinking? Of course you have. Every time you speak to your pet and it cocks its ears and tilts its head from side to side, and looks at you with a puzzled expression, you probably thought to yourself, “Do you understand me? I wish I knew what you are thinking! Well, you are finally going to find out. At least from a pet groomers point of view. No, groomers are not mind readers, but rather they read the animals body language and watch for signs of stress and anxiety. And the first visit is probably the most important part of the grooming process. On that first visit the groomer gets to know the owner and what he/she expects out of the groom. The groomer must first make certain that the pet has had all of its immunization shots, especially if the pet is still a puppy. At this point the groomer should discuss life-style and grooming habits. For example, a long-haired pet such as a Maltese requires daily brushing AND COMBING to maintain that beautiful long, white coat. But if the owner neglects to do daily maintenance on the pet then the groomer must inform the owner of the possibility of an extra charge for de-matting or recommend a shorter, more manageable haircut. But I could go on and on about the grooming profession; However, I thing you would prefer to get on with the poetry. In this book I’m going to include some bathing tips and some cat poetry, I hope. And possible a story that I think you might like. So, I hope you enjoy my second effort.

Book excerpt: Scarce 1935 title on Tape Reading by Orline D. Foster, (not the same as the similarly titled book from the 1960s). To the stock market technician every fluctuation on the ticker tape has its own meaning. The speed of the trading; the volume; the size of blocks of stocks; the fluctuation of prices; the type of stocks in which the major trading is done, these are the mosaics from which he works out his pattern. By following the tape he knows whether it is a waiting market, a distributing market, a market of accumulation or whether indications point to reversal. In the following pages it has been my intention so to classify some of these signals that the average trader might study and make use of them. No effort has been made to offer detailed information on individual moves, preference being given to making each statement concrete. TICKER TECHNIQUE is intended as a hand book for traders, a book to be kept on every operator's desk. - Orline D. Foster

It covers: .stop orders and trading rules .volumes and their significance .market technique ."dull markets" and their opportunities .and more. Nearly a century later, this primer on the basic laws of the market is still an invaluable resource for the broker or serious individual trader. RICHARD D. WYCKOFF (A.K.A. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Documents are milestones and markers of human activity, part of who and what we are. Our story can be told through the objects, profound and trivial, famous and forgotten, by which we remember and are remembered. Documents That Changed the Way We Live examines dozens of compelling stories that describe these documents; their creation, motivation, influence, importance, historical and social context, provenance; and their connections to contemporary information objects, technologies, and trends. These documents include the following: “Exaltation of Innana,” a Sumerian hymn composed c. 2300 BCE by the high priestess Enheduanna, likely the first known author…of anything The “We Can Do It!” poster everybody knows is Rosie the Riveter calling women to work in the factories in World War II. Except it’s not, and she isn’t Joseph McCarthy’s “list” of Communists that ruined lives and careers, because it was believed - even though it never existed The “He has waged cruel war…” passage on slavery, deleted from the Declaration of Independence The poorly designed Palm Beach County “butterfly ballot,” on which the 2000 U.S. presidential election may have hinged And the lesser-known stories behind the Zapruder Film, the Watergate tapes, the Obama birth certificate, airplane black boxes, Thanksgiving, IQ tests, the Star-Spangled Banner, why Americans spell the way they do, Nobel Prizes, Wikipedia, and how you’re cooking dinner tonight
