Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

  • Pages : 124 pages

Download or read book After the Rain written by Keith Mack and published by Writers Republic LLC. This book was released on 2022-05-16 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When congratulating my granddaughter on receiving her Masters in Fine Arts degree, I acknowledged my desire to be able to write poetry. Her simple answer was "give it a try." I finished my first poem at age 86. Since then, I have completed over 100 poems. A poet I will never be, however, a writer of poems I can claim. Although saddled with imperfections, my hope is that some spiritual benefit will be derived from the reading of this little book. The beautiful poem "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer was put to music and performed frequently by my father in my youth. The sound of his voice still lingers in my mind. The last line of the poem expresses my feelings. "Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree."

Book Cold War Fighter Pilots Songbook

Download or read book Cold War Fighter Pilots Songbook written by Fortuna Call Sign: and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2024-01-26 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The compilation of the book contains not all the songs Fighter Pilots sung during the Cold War era, but quiet a lot. The sources were exclusively my collection of unpublished Squadron Songbooks throughout the english speaking Fighter Pilots Community. They reflect the sheer emotions, the black humors of ill fated conflicts and the absence of women during their deployments. At the time the compilation is published, most of the songs are already banned from the Squadrons and O-Clubs and within short time they will be forgotten as a Social Squadron Part of a special Breed of Aviators during the 60s trough 90s. Some songs contain words, which were used only at the bar after some beer.

Book Thoughts From Yesterday

Download or read book Thoughts From Yesterday written by Glen Thomas Hierlmeier and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-01-24 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My life has been so rich owing to the people who I have been blessed to know, who have provided the substance to write about, and I have been in so many wonderful places. Once I capture a theme, I mull it over for days, or weeks and months, sometimes years. I may write several drafts in my mind before I write a single word. Sometimes the first writing of a story will come out in more or less final draft form. I tend to be very serious in my writing; I choose serious subjects, then I try to honor my commitment that a good story should make you laugh and cry, and relate to the people, places and things in the story. Unfortunately, there is often much more crying than laughing. I’ll keep working on that. You should know that I have cried first. As I write, I relive my stories; there are some I have read many times---and I have cried over them every time, as much the last as the first. As my subtitle relates, this is an unfinished work. There are many more stories and essays, letters, poems, and such that I still have in mind to write. I hope to get to many more of them so we can share the special people, places, and things of our lives. I have been encouraged to go ahead with what I have, knowing that I will keep writing, and keep crying, and laughing some too.

Book A Life of Snakes and Ladders

Download or read book A Life of Snakes and Ladders written by P. Lanquai and published by Authors On Line Ltd. This book was released on 2005 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The writer's thoughts, feelings, comments, letters, dreams and stories have been recorded over a period of more than twenty years. Through these revelations, one can follow a coarse thread, which has, at times, been broken and tied together again. Written in diary format he touches on sex, religion, astronomy, astrology, birth and death, as well as a whole range of emotions; from anger and hate...to love. Never intending this collection to be read by others, it comes across very intimately, and with a fair amount of humour. This certainly shows how the dice have fallen in his life of Snakes and Ladders.

Book She s So Fine Reflections on Whiteness Femininity Adolescence and Class in 1960s Music

Download or read book She s So Fine Reflections on Whiteness Femininity Adolescence and Class in 1960s Music written by Laurie Stras and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: She's So Fine explores the music, reception and cultural significance of 1960s girl singers and girl groups in the US and the UK. Using approaches from the fields of musicology, women's studies, film and media studies, and cultural studies, this volume is the first interdisciplinary work to link close musical readings with rigorous cultural analysis in the treatment of artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Crystals, The Blossoms, Brenda Lee, Dusty Springfield, Lulu, Tina Turner, and Marianne Faithfull. Currently available studies of 1960s girl groups/girl singers fall into one of three categories: industry-generated accounts of the music's production and sales, sociological commentaries, or omnibus chronologies/discographies. She's So Fine, by contrast, focuses on clearly defined themes via case studies of selected artists. Within this analytical rather than historically comprehensive framework, this book presents new research and original observations on the 60s girl group/girl singer phenomenon.

Book Arab American Faces and Voices

Download or read book Arab American Faces and Voices written by Elizabeth Boosahda and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Arab Americans seek to claim their communal identity and rightful place in American society at a time of heightened tension between the United States and the Middle East, an understanding look back at more than one hundred years of the Arab-American community is especially timely. In this book, Elizabeth Boosahda, a third-generation Arab American, draws on over two hundred personal interviews, as well as photographs and historical documents that are contemporaneous with the first generation of Arab Americans (Syrians, Lebanese, Palestinians), both Christians and Muslims, who immigrated to the Americas between 1880 and 1915, and their descendants. Boosahda focuses on the Arab-American community in Worcester, Massachusetts, a major northeastern center for Arab immigration, and Worcester's links to and similarities with Arab-American communities throughout North and South America. Using the voices of Arab immigrants and their families, she explores their entire experience, from emigration at the turn of the twentieth century to the present-day lives of their descendants. This rich documentation sheds light on many aspects of Arab-American life, including the Arab entrepreneurial motivation and success, family life, education, religious and community organizations, and the role of women in initiating immigration and the economic success they achieved.
