Book Dear Broken Soul Return Home to God

Download or read book Dear Broken Soul Return Home to God written by Liyana Musfirah and published by IMAN Publication Sdn Bhd. This book was released on with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “What’s beautiful about being broken is that you start to realise how much feelings you carry. You are introduced to the layers of emotions that you never knew were in you all along.” *** Life is a place for us to be tested — this is something we know but going through a painful and heartbreaking experience can leave the heart feeling like it’s shattered into pieces. We succumb to the pain, drown ourselves in the whirlwind of emotions, and we end up becoming a person we no longer recognise because of our “brokenness”. But love and pain are emotions from God. So why does one bring us joy and the other makes us feel like we’re trapped in a dark hole? *** In Dear Broken Soul, Islamic educator, Liyana Musfirah, and licensed psychotherapist, Maimunah Mosli, explore what happens to us when we go through a heartbreaking experience and how we can revive the heart by seeking God through our brokenness. It also invites us to embrace one certain fact – our heart and its brokenness will always have a home to come back to – and that is with God.

Book When Trying to Return Home

Download or read book When Trying to Return Home written by Jennifer Maritza McCauley and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2024-02-06 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice A dazzling debut collection spanning a century of Black American and Afro-Latino life in Puerto Rico, Pittsburgh, Louisiana, Miami, and beyond—and an evocative meditation on belonging, the meaning of home, and how we secure freedom on our own terms Profoundly moving and powerful, the stories in When Trying to Return Home dig deeply into the question of belonging. A young woman is torn between overwhelming love for her mother and the need to break free from her damaging influence during a desperate and disastrous attempt to rescue her brother from foster care. A man, his wife, and his mistress each confront the borders separating love and hate, obligation and longing, on the eve of a flight to San Juan. A college student grapples with the space between chivalry and machismo in a tense encounter involving a nun. And in 1930s Louisiana, a woman attempting to find a place to call her own chances upon an old friend at a bar and must reckon with her troubled past. Forming a web of desires and consequences that span generations, McCauley’s Black American and Afro–Puerto Rican characters remind us that these voices have always been here, occupying the very center of American life—even if we haven’t always been willing to listen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this gorgeous fantasy novel that NPR Books called “a world to get lost in,” in the spirit of Guy Gavriel Kay and Robin McKinley, a prince and a princess must work together to save their kingdom from outside invaders…and dangers within. Long ago the Kieba, last goddess in the world, raised up her mountain in the drylands of Carastind. Ever since then she has dwelled and protected the world from unending plagues and danger… Gulien Madalin, heir to the throne of Carastind, finds himself more interested in ancient history than the tedious business of government and watching his father rule. But Gulien suspects that his father has offended the Kieba so seriously that she has withdrawn her protection from the kingdom. Worse, he fears that Carastind’s enemies suspect this as well. Then he learns that he is right. And invasion is imminent. Meanwhile Gulien’s sister Oressa has focused on what’s important: avoiding the attention of her royal father while keeping track of all the secrets at court. But when she overhears news about the threatened invasion, she’s shocked to discover what her father plans to give away in order to buy peace. But Carastind’s enemies will not agree to peace at any price. They intend to not only conquer the kingdom, but also cast down the Kieba and steal her power. Now, Gulien and Oressa must decide where their most important loyalties lie, and what price they are willing to pay to protect the Kieba, their home, and the world.

Book excerpt: In this life-changing book, energy medicine expert Rhys Thomas shows you how to discover your life purpose and align your decisions with your deepest self, so your life is fulfilling, productive, and full of joy. Trying to meet everyone else’s expectations about the type of role you should play—whether in your job, your family, or society—can leave you constantly striving but ultimately dissatisfied. In this inspiring book, Thomas guides you in using the Rhys Method® Life Purpose Profile System to identify your purpose and reconnect with your passions, so you can find true happiness and fulfillment. This system of self-discovery encompasses five distinct soul-based profiles. Which one are you? - Creative Idealists are highly imaginative thinkers who sometimes self-isolate, feeling safer staying in their inner mental world than engaging with others. - Emotional Intelligence Specialists are empathic, sensitive, and compassionate but sometimes struggle with being overwhelmed and feeling unloved. - Team Players are loyal supporters who selflessly put others’ needs before their own, but they can fail to recognize their own strengths and needs. - Charismatic Leader-Charmers are energetic, dynamic, and capable, but they can become distrustful, self-centered, and even aggressive, in their relationships. - Knowledgeable Achievers are driven, self-disciplined, and organized big-picture thinkers. They sometimes lose touch with their emotions and push themselves too hard, becoming overly critical and judgmental. Once you identify your primary life-purpose profile, as well the other profiles you may inhabit, you can move toward your unique calling—embracing your strengths and rejecting unhealthy behaviors. Discover Your Purpose also helps you to better understand and relate to others through their profiles. Included in this book are resources and bio-energetic exercises designed for your individual profile to help you reach your fullest potential in mind, body, and soul.

Book Retirement Home Ageing Migrant Workers in France and the Question of Return

Download or read book Retirement Home Ageing Migrant Workers in France and the Question of Return written by Alistair Hunter and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-03-29 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book offers new insights into the ageing-migration nexus and the nature of home. Documenting the hidden world of France’s migrant worker hostels, it explores why older North and West African men continue to live past retirement age in this sub-standard housing. Conventional wisdom holds that at retirement labour migrants ought to instead return to their families in home countries, where their French pensions would have far greater purchasing power. This paradox is the point of departure for a book which transports readers from the banlieues of Paris to the banks of the Senegal River and the villages of the Anti-Atlas. In intimate ethnographic detail, the author brings to life the experiences of these older labour migrants by sharing in the life of the hostels as a resident, by observing at close quarters the men's family life on the other side of the Mediterranean as a guest in their homes, and even by accompanying them in their travels by bus, sea, and air. The monograph evaluates several theories of migration against rich qualitative data gathered from multiple methods: biographical narrative and semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and archival research. In the process, it offers a thoughtful contribution to broader debates on what it means for migrants to belong and achieve inclusion in society. This book has been awarded an ‘honourable mention’ in the Khayrallah Prize in Migration Studies, courtesy of the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies at North Carolina State University. For more information please see: https://lebanesestudies.ncsu.edu/awards/scholarly/2018.php.
