Book The Properties of Gases and Liquids

Download or read book The Properties of Gases and Liquids written by Bruce E. Poling and published by McGraw-Hill Education. This book was released on 2001 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Updating their hefty reference approximately every decade since 1958, chemical engineers Poling (U. of Toledo), John M. Prausnitz (U. of California-Berkeley), and John P. O'Connell (U. of Virginia) describe and critically review various estimation procedures for a limited number of properties of gases and liquids. Among those properties are critical and other pure component properties; pressure-volume- temperature relationships and thermodynamic properties of pure components and mixtures; vapor pressures and phase-change enthalpies; standard enthalpies of formation; standard Gibbs energy of formation; heat capacity; surface tension; viscosity; thermal conductivity; diffusion coefficients; and phase equilibria. They compare most of the estimated properties to experimental findings to indicate reliability, and illustrate most methods with examples.

Book Thermophysical Properties of Fluids

Download or read book Thermophysical Properties of Fluids written by Marc J. Assael and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with the prediction of thermodynamic and transport properties of gases and liquids. The prediction of such properties is essential for the solution of many problems encountered in chemical and process engineering as well as in other areas of science and technology. The book aims to present the best of those modern methods which are capable of practical application. It begins with basic scientific principles and formal results which are subsequently developed into practical methods of prediction. Numerous examples, supported by a suite of computer programmes, illustrate applications of the methods. The book is aimed primarily at the student market (for both undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses) but it will also be useful for those engaged in research and for chemical and process engineering professionals.

Book Thermodynamic Properties of Gaseous Nitrogen

Download or read book Thermodynamic Properties of Gaseous Nitrogen written by Harold William Woolley and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tables of thermal properties of molecular nitrogen that have been prepared in an NBS-NACA series have been grouped together herein for convenient use. They include the thermodynamic functions for the gas, both real and ideal, the transport properties for a gas, and the vapor pressure of the liquid and the solid. A table of ideal-gas properties is presented, including the specific heat at constant pressure, enthalpy, entropy, and the free-energy function; and a table giving these same properties for atomic nitrogen is also included. The tables of the real-gas thermodynamic properties include density, compressibility factor, entropy, enthalpy, specific heat at constant presssure, ratio of specific heats, and velocity of sound at very low frequency.

Book Generalized Tables of Corrections to Thermodynamic Properties for Nonpolar Gases

Download or read book Generalized Tables of Corrections to Thermodynamic Properties for Nonpolar Gases written by Harold William Woolley and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tables are presented based on the Lennard-Jones 6-12 potential for nonpolar molecules to be used in the representation of second and third virial coefficients and equation-of-state corrections for enthalpy, entropy, specific heats at constant volume and at constant pressure, the ratio of specific heats, the isentropic expansion coefficient, and the velocity of sound. The treatment for effects involving three molecules jointly uses an empirical adjustment of the Lennard-Jones force parameters within a cluster of three independently of the value for an isolated pair. A graphical correlation of ratios of these parameters with the critical constants is also shown which permits better estimates for compact nonpolar molecules with known critical constants but with limited data of state.

Book The Properties of Gases and Liquids

Download or read book The Properties of Gases and Liquids written by Robert C. Reid and published by McGraw-Hill Companies. This book was released on 1987 with total page 780 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Completely rewritten and reorganized to reflect the latest developments in estimating the properties of gases and liquids, this new edition of the highly regarded reference presents a comprehensive survey of the most reliable estimation methods in use today. It provides instantly usable information on estimating both physical and thermodynamic properties when experimental data are not available (for example, constants such as critical temperature, critical pressure, acentric factor, and others); thermodynamic properties of gases and liquids, both pure and mixtures, including enthalpies, entropies, fugacity coefficients, heat capacities, and critical points; vapor-liquid and liquid-liquid equilibria as needed in separation operations such as distillation, absorption, and extraction. An invaluable reference that provides property values for more than 600 pure chemicals, this is the only book in its field to include a critical analysis of existing methods as well as practical recommendations.
