Book Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Australian Birds

Download or read book Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Australian Birds written by Stephen Garnett and published by CSIRO PUBLISHING. This book was released on 2014-05-30 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first climate change adaptation plan produced for a national faunal group anywhere in the world. It outlines the nature of threats related to climate change for the Australian bird taxa most likely to be affected by climate change, and provides recommendations on what might be done to assist them and approximate costs of doing so. It also features an analysis of how climate change will affect all Australian birds, explains why some species are likely to be more exposed or sensitive to it than others, and explores the theory and practice of conservation management under the realities of a changing climate. Species profiles include maps showing current core habitat and modelled climatic suitability based on historical records, as well as maps showing projected climatic suitability in 2085 in relation to current core habitat. Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Australian Birds is an important reference for policy makers, conservation scientists, land managers, climate change adaptation biologists, as well as bird watchers and advocacy groups.

Book Non Plan Essays on Freedom Participation and Change in Modern Architecture and Urbanism

Download or read book Non Plan Essays on Freedom Participation and Change in Modern Architecture and Urbanism written by Jonathan Hughes and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-Plan explores ways of involving people in the design of their environments - a goal which transgresses political categories of 'right' and 'left'. Attempts to circumvent planning bureaucracy and architectural inertia have ranged from free-market enterprise zones, to self-build housing, and from squatting to sophisticated technologies of prefabrication. Yet all have shared in a desire to let people shape the built environment they want to live and work in. How can buildings better reflect the needs of their inhabitants? How can cities better facilitate the work and recreation of their many populaces? Modernism had promised a functionalist approach to resolving the architectural needs of the twentieth-century, yet the design of cities and buildings often appears to confound the needs of those who use them - their design and layout being highly regulated by restrictive legislation, planning controls and bureaucracy. Non-Plan considers the theoretical and conceptual frameworks within which architecture and urbanism have sought to challenge entrenched boundaries of control, focusing on the architectural history of the post-war period to the present day. This provocative book will be of interest to architects, planners and students of architecture, design, town-planning and architectural history. Its contributors include architects, critics and historians, including many whose work helped shape the Non-Plan debate during the period. List of contributors: Cedric Price, Benjamin Franks, Elizabeth Lebas, Eleonore Kofman, Ben Highmore, Yona Friedman, Paul Barker, Clara Greed, Barry Curtis, Colin Ward, Ian Horton, John Beck, Chinedu Umenyilora and Malcolm Miles.

Book A Selfish Plan to Change the World

Download or read book A Selfish Plan to Change the World written by Justin Dillon and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2017-05-23 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are exactly what the world needs What if your search for meaning could solve the world’s problems? What if everything you are passionate about could save a life or change history? Justin Dillon argues it can, and A Selfish Plan to Change the World shows how. In this paradigm-shifting new book, Dillon--the founder of Slavery Footprint and Made in a Free World--reveals the secret to a life of deep and lasting significance: the discovery that our need for meaning is inextricably linked to the needs of the world. A Selfish Plan to Change the World delivers a revolutionary method for meeting both needs. Drawing upon his own unlikely transformation from touring musician to founder of a global movement and telling the stories of other surprising world-changers, Dillon shows how to create a life of deep purpose by stepping into the problems of the world. Taking readers on a journey from sweatshops in India to punk rock concerts in Ireland, Dillon exposes the limitations of the "giving back" approach involving donations and volunteerism to reveal the unexpected power of "giving in" to pursue self-interest in a way that alters the very dynamics of the world’s most challenging problems. A Selfish Plan to Change the World is your "self-help-others" guide to a life that matters, demonstrating how you can repurpose your existing talents, backstory, and networks to improve the lives of others. Changing the world no longer belongs only to martyrs and professional do-gooders. You can live an extraordinary life. You can change the world. All you ever needed was a plan.

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Kone

  • Pages : 394 pages

Download or read book The Willington Secret written by John Kone and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2000 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Willington Secret" is about the perfect crime. People are being murdered and the "bad guys" have discovered how to dispose of the evidence without a trace. The story, set in the mid 1960's takes place in a small college town of Willington, Georgia, but this story could happen anywhere......even in your home town. What makes this story unique is that people committing the horrible crimes, blend perfectly into the Willington community fabric. The town citizens pass them on the streets, eat at the same restaurants, and belong to the same civic organizations, but suspect nothing. The good people of Willington don't realize that, these highly respected, pillars of the community have perfected a foolproof way to commit the ultimate crime and get away with it! The hero is Josh Novack, a student/athelete, whose only goal in life is to make it through college on an athletic scholarship. As a result of an incredible chain of events, Josh becomes committed and involved in the Willington Secret. Now he faces a deadly dilemma: expose the criminals before he becomes their next victim. The villians, however, are thoroughly entrenched in the town hierarchy. They are model citizens, people of power and and position, thus making Josh Novack's task of revealing their secret insurmountable. Although the story is fiction, the recipe used to erase all evidence that a crime had been committed is not. Take certain circumstances common to any community add some unscrupulous, greedy people, who just happen to be engaged in professions that provide the necessary cover, and the result is the formula for the perfect crime. The scariest part is that it could really happen!

Book Challenges of Climate Change in Manipur Strategies and Action Plans

This book was released on 2021-01-04 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change is becoming top threat to biodiversity and it is the fastest-growing cause of species loss in the world. The rising sea level and increased extreme weather events of climate change---fires, floods, pestilence and drought---have already caused widespread harm to biodiversity. India has continuously demonstrated its responsibility towards acknowledging the emerging threats from climate change and implementing the climate actions on the basis of the Principle of Equity and Common but Differentiated Responsibilities for improving efficiency of the economy and its engines of growth. India has been actively promoting clean energy and clean technology as well as continuing the flagship schemes on combating climate change in both adaptation and mitigation fronts. In conformity with the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), the State of Manipur has also prepared its own Manipur State Action Plan on Climate Change (MSAPCC) in 2013 to combat climate change and revised 2nd version was prepared in 2019 to combat climate change. The Manipur Vision Document 2030 was also released in 2019 with a view to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. India has adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog instead of the half century old Economic Planning. From the North Eastern States Manipur stood at 7th in the composite SDG Index, that is, 59 as against the All-India score of 57.

Book RESISTANCE TO CHANGE A NEW PERSPECTIVE A Textbook for Managers Who Plan to Implement a Change

Download or read book RESISTANCE TO CHANGE A NEW PERSPECTIVE A Textbook for Managers Who Plan to Implement a Change written by Daniela Bradutanu and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-09 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intention for this book is to present the resistance to change phenomenon from a new perspective. The term resistance is complex and very often misinterpreted. Change leaders should adapt their perspectives on this subject and try to see resistance from a positive angle as well. By just changing the prospect of analyzing it, managers could experience a greater success in implementing new changes and effectively attract more employees onto their side. Instead of trying to eliminate or suppress employees' resistance, managers should rather use their reactions in a positive framework. Resistance may be useful as feedback and therefore, managers can use it to improve and refine the organizational change process.
