Book Absolute Stability of Nonlinear Control Systems

Download or read book Absolute Stability of Nonlinear Control Systems written by Xiao-Xin Liao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As is well-known, a control system always works under a variety of accidental or continued disturbances. Therefore, in designing and analysing the control system, stability is the first thing to be considered. Classic control theory was basically limited to a discussion of linear systems with constant coefficients. The fundamental tools for such studies were the Routh-Hurwitz algebraic criterion and the Nyquist geometric criterion. However, modern control theory mainly deals with nonlinear problems. The stability analysis of nonlinear control systems based on Liapunov stability theory can be traced back to the Russian school of stability. In 1944, the Russian mathematician Lurie, a specialist in control theory, discussed the stability of an autopilot. The well-known Lurie problem and the concept of absolute stability are presented, which is of universal significance both in theory and practice. Up until the end of the 1950's, the field of absolute stability was monopolized mainly by Russian scholars such as A. 1. Lurie, M. A. Aizeman, A. M. Letov and others. At the beginning of the 1960's, some famous American mathematicians such as J. P. LaSalle, S. Lefschetz and R. E. Kalman engaged themself in this field. Meanwhile, the Romanian scholar Popov presented a well-known frequency criterion and consequently ma de a decisive breakthrough in the study of absolute stability.

Book Algebraic and Differential Methods for Nonlinear Control Theory

Download or read book Algebraic and Differential Methods for Nonlinear Control Theory written by Rafael Martínez-Guerra and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-30 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a short primer in engineering mathematics with a view on applications in nonlinear control theory. In particular, it introduces some elementary concepts of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry which offer a set of tools quite different from the traditional approaches to the subject matter. This text begins with the study of elementary set and map theory. Chapters 2 and 3 on group theory and rings, respectively, are included because of their important relation to linear algebra, the group of invertible linear maps (or matrices) and the ring of linear maps of a vector space. Homomorphisms and Ideals are dealt with as well at this stage. Chapter 4 is devoted to the theory of matrices and systems of linear equations. Chapter 5 gives some information on permutations, determinants and the inverse of a matrix. Chapter 6 tackles vector spaces over a field, Chapter 7 treats linear maps resp. linear transformations, and in addition the application in linear control theory of some abstract theorems such as the concept of a kernel, the image and dimension of vector spaces are illustrated. Chapter 8 considers the diagonalization of a matrix and their canonical forms. Chapter 9 provides a brief introduction to elementary methods for solving differential equations and, finally, in Chapter 10, nonlinear control theory is introduced from the point of view of differential algebra.

Book Nonlinear Systems Analysis

Download or read book Nonlinear Systems Analysis written by M. Vidyasagar and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When M. Vidyasagar wrote the first edition of Nonlinear Systems Analysis, most control theorists considered the subject of nonlinear systems a mystery. Since then, advances in the application of differential geometric methods to nonlinear analysis have matured to a stage where every control theorist needs to possess knowledge of the basic techniques because virtually all physical systems are nonlinear in nature. The second edition, now republished in SIAM's Classics in Applied Mathematics series, provides a rigorous mathematical analysis of the behavior of nonlinear control systems under a variety of situations. It develops nonlinear generalizations of a large number of techniques and methods widely used in linear control theory. The book contains three extensive chapters devoted to the key topics of Lyapunov stability, input-output stability, and the treatment of differential geometric control theory. Audience: this text is designed for use at the graduate level in the area of nonlinear systems and as a resource for professional researchers and practitioners working in areas such as robotics, spacecraft control, motor control, and power systems.

Book Quantitative Feedback Design of Linear and Nonlinear Control Systems

Download or read book Quantitative Feedback Design of Linear and Nonlinear Control Systems written by Oded Yaniv and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantitative Feedback Design of Linear and Nonlinear Control Systems is a self-contained book dealing with the theory and practice of Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT). The author presents feedback synthesis techniques for single-input single-output, multi-input multi-output linear time-invariant and nonlinear plants based on the QFT method. Included are design details and graphs which do not appear in the literature, which will enable engineers and researchers to understand QFT in greater depth. Engineers will be able to apply QFT and the design techniques to many applications, such as flight and chemical plant control, robotics, space, vehicle and military industries, and numerous other uses. All of the examples were implemented using Matlab® Version 5.3; the script file can be found at the author's Web site. QFT results in efficient designs because it synthesizes a controller for the exact amount of plant uncertainty, disturbances and required specifications. Quantitative Feedback Design of Linear and Nonlinear Control Systems is a pioneering work that illuminates QFT, making the theory - and practice - come alive.
