Book Non Linear Cooperative Effects in Open Quantum Systems

Download or read book Non Linear Cooperative Effects in Open Quantum Systems written by Nicolae Alexandru Enachi and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph, "Non-linear Cooperative Effects in Open Quantum Systems: Entanglement and Second Order Coherence" is dedicated to the large auditory of specialists interested in the modern approaches in quantum open systems, cooperative phenomena between excited atoms and the field of the non-linear interaction. Special attention is dedicated to the problems of non-linear interaction with vacuum fields and thermostat with finite temperature, but quantum aspects of laser generation of light in non-linear interaction with finite numbers of cavity modes remain the center of attention. In many situations, the limit to the traditional cooperative phenomena of open quantum systems and thermodynamics are taken into consideration. As the book contains the class of non-linear effects of generations of the particle in such cooperative phenomena, the author's aim was to describe squeezed problems and affect entanglement between the generation photons and phonons in cooperative processes. The new phenomenon of cooperative emission in the single- and two-quantum processes are carefully described for large audiences of specialists in the field of quantum optics and condensed matter physics, chemistry and biology.

Book Introduction to Condensed Matter Physics

Download or read book Introduction to Condensed Matter Physics written by Duan Feng and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is volume 1 of two-volume book that presents an excellent, comprehensive exposition of the multi-faceted subjects of modern condensed matter physics, unified within an original and coherent conceptual framework. Traditional subjects such as band theory and lattice dynamics are tightly organized in this framework, while many new developments emerge spontaneously from it. In this volume,? Basic concepts are emphasized; usually they are intuitively introduced, then more precisely formulated, and compared with correlated concepts.? A plethora of new topics, such as quasicrystals, photonic crystals, GMR, TMR, CMR, high Tc superconductors, Bose-Einstein condensation, etc., are presented with sharp physical insights.? Bond and band approaches are discussed in parallel, breaking the barrier between physics and chemistry.? A highly accessible chapter is included on correlated electronic states ? rarely found in an introductory text.? Introductory chapters on tunneling, mesoscopic phenomena, and quantum-confined nanostructures constitute a sound foundation for nanoscience and nanotechnology.? The text is profusely illustrated with about 500 figures.

Book Conceptual Foundations of Materials

Download or read book Conceptual Foundations of Materials written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-09-20 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of this Volume "Conceptual Foundations of Materials: A standard model for ground- and excited-state properties" is to present the fundamentals of electronic structure theory that are central to the understanding and prediction of materials phenomena and properties. The emphasis is on foundations and concepts. The Sections are designed to offer a broad and comprehensive perspective of the field. They cover the basic aspects of modern electronic structure approaches and highlight their applications to the structural (ground state, vibrational, dynamic and thermodynamic, etc.) and electronic (spectroscopic, dielectric, magnetic, transport, etc.) properties of real materials including solids, clusters, liquids, and nanostructure materials. This framework also forms a basis for studies of emergent properties arising from low-energy electron correlations and interactions such as the quantum Hall effects, superconductivity, and other cooperative phenomena. Although some of the basics and models for solids were developed in the early part of the last century by figures such as Bloch, Pauli, Fermi, and Slater, the field of electronic structure theory went through a phenomenal growth during the past two decades, leading to new concepts, understandings, and predictive capabilities for determining the ground- and excited-state properties of real, complex materials from first principles. For example, theory can now be used to predict the existence and properties of materials not previously realized in nature or in the laboratory. Computer experiments can be performed to examine the behavior of individual atoms in a particular process, to analyze the importance of different mechanisms, or just to see what happen if one varies the interactions and parameters in the simulation. Also, with ab initio calculations, one can determine from first principles important interaction parameters which are needed in model studies of complex processes or highly correlated systems. Each time a new material or a novel form of a material is discovered, electronic structure theory inevitably plays a fundamental role in unraveling its properties. - Provides the foundations of the field of condensed matter physics - An excellent supplementary text for classes on condensed matter physics/solid state physics - Volume covers current work at the forefront - Presentations are accessible to nonspecialists, with focus on underlying fundamentals

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contribution of computer simulation studies to our understanding of the prop erties of a wide range of condensed matter systems is now weIl established. The Center for Simulational Physics of the University of Georgia has been hosting a series of annual workshops with the intent of bringing together experienced prac titioners in the field, as weIl as relative newcomers, to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and recent results. This year's workshop, the third in the series, was held February 12-16, 1990. These proceedings are arecord of the workshop and are published with the goal of timely dissemination of the papers to a wider audience. The proceedings are divided into four parts. The first contains invited pa pers dealing with simulational studies of classical systems and also includes an introduction to some new simulation techniques. Aseparate section is devoted to invited papers on quantum systems, including new results for strongly correlated electron and quantum spin models believed to be important for the description of high-Tc superconductors. The third part consists of a single invited paper, which presents a comprehensive treatment of issues associated with high perfor mance computing, including differences in architectures and a discussion of access strategies. The contributed papers constitute the final part.

Download or read book Why More Is Different written by Brigitte Falkenburg and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-26 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The physics of condensed matter, in contrast to quantum physics or cosmology, is not traditionally associated with deep philosophical questions. However, as science - largely thanks to more powerful computers - becomes capable of analysing and modelling ever more complex many-body systems, basic questions of philosophical relevance arise. Questions about the emergence of structure, the nature of cooperative behaviour, the implications of the second law, the quantum-classical transition and many other issues. This book is a collection of essays by leading physicists and philosophers. Each investigates one or more of these issues, making use of examples from modern condensed matter research. Physicists and philosophers alike will find surprising and stimulating ideas in these pages.

Book Festschrift In Honor Of The C N Yang Centenary A Scientific Papers

Download or read book Festschrift In Honor Of The C N Yang Centenary A Scientific Papers written by Fong-ching Chen and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2022-08-03 with total page 638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: C N Yang is a towering figure of science who has significantly extended human understanding of nature, headed one of the foremost research institutes in physics for three decades, and made great contributions to the advances of Chinese physics. This Festschrift in honor of Professor Yang on his centenary birthday consists of two volumes: Volume A consists of general essays concerning Professor Yang the person, as well as the authors' impressions and reminiscences of him, which are mainly (but not exclusively) in Chinese. This volume, that is Volume B, consists of over thirty scientific papers in English on subjects broadly related to his work and contributed by two different groups: Professor Yang's colleagues, friends, and former students; and graduates from the Tsinghua University Physics Department or Institute for Advanced Study, who have come under the influence of Professor Yang and are now established in their own careers; review papers presented at a Symposium held in his honor in 2021 are also included. It is hoped that this Festschrift can serve as a fit tribute to Professor Yang's lifelong achievements, and also increase public awareness of the many different sides of this giant — his life, his personality, his work, his influence, as well as what he strives for.
