Book Linearized Supersonic Axially Symmetric Flow about Open nosed Bodies Obtained by Use of Stream Function

Download or read book Linearized Supersonic Axially Symmetric Flow about Open nosed Bodies Obtained by Use of Stream Function written by Franklin Moore and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First-order relations were obtained for attenuation of shock and flow deflection outward along the shock. These relations probably conform closely to physical fact, provided the entrance slope is small. These relations contain an error, but become exact as the radial coordinate approaches inifinity. The error is thus probably of the second order over the entire shock front.

Book Use of a Characteristic Surfaces for Unisymmetrical Supersonic Flow Problems

Download or read book Use of a Characteristic Surfaces for Unisymmetrical Supersonic Flow Problems written by W. E. Moeckel and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Application of the method of characteristics to the linearized three-dimensional equation results in a relatively simple system of difference equations that can be used to compute the supersonic flow past boundaries for which no other linearized solutions are available.

Book Electrical Techniques for Compensation of Thermal Time Lag of Thermocouples and Resistance Thermometer Elements

Download or read book Electrical Techniques for Compensation of Thermal Time Lag of Thermocouples and Resistance Thermometer Elements written by Charles E. Shepard and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 740 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basic electrical networks are described that compensate for the thermal time lag of thermocouple and resistance thermometer elements. For a given set of operating conditions, networks requiring no amplifiers can provide a thirtyfold reduction in effective time lag. This improvement is obtained without attenuation of the voltage signal, but does result in a large reduction in the amount of electric power available because of an increase in the output impedance of the network. Networks used commercially available amplifiers can provide a thousandfold reduction in the effective time lag without attenuation of the alternating voltage signal or or the available electric power, but the improvement is often obtained at the expense of loss of the zero-frequency signal. The completeness of compensation is limited by the extent of off-design operation required.

Book Investigation of Fretting Corrosion by Microscopic Observation

Download or read book Investigation of Fretting Corrosion by Microscopic Observation written by Douglas Godfrey and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fretting corrosion was concluded to be caused by the removal of finely divided and apparently virgin material due to inherent forces and that its primary reaction is independent of of vibratory motion or high sliding speeds. Fretting corrosion occurred to clean nonmetals and metals readily and glass microscope slides and steel balls provided an excellent method for visual studies.

Book Analysis of the Effects of Boundary layer Control on the Power off Landing Performance Characteristics of a Liaison Type of Airplane

Download or read book Analysis of the Effects of Boundary layer Control on the Power off Landing Performance Characteristics of a Liaison Type of Airplane written by Elmer A. Horton and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 678 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was made to determine the effects of boundary-layer control on the landing performance characteristics of a liaison type of airplane having a payload of 1500 pounds and a flight duration of 5 hours. The aspect ratio was varied from 5 to 15, the wing span from 30 to 100 feet, and the brake horsepower from 300 to 1200. The use of boundary-layer control caused reduction in total landing distance (25 to 40 percent), ground-run distance, gliding speed, and stalling speed whereas sinking speed was increased only slightly.
