Book The Principles of Astrology

Download or read book The Principles of Astrology written by Charles Ernest Owen Carter and published by Quest Books. This book was released on 1971 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present work is designed to give a clear and concise presentation of the essential facts of modern Astrology. A good deal of experience in teaching the average beginner has convinced me that, while there are several text-books suitable for the use of the more advanced student or of a novice who has the advantage of personal tuition, the majority are either too prolix or too condensed for one who is compelled to be his own instructor. Moreover, Astrology is now to some extent in the melting-pot: on the one hand, many new ideas are being introduced; on the other, statistical research, such as earlier astrologers could not carry out for lack of sufficient data, has cast considerable doubt on the validity of portions of the rather incoherent mass of tradition that till recent years represented astrological science. The beginner does not wish to be confronted with controversial matters, however attractive he may find them later. He requires, firstly, a statement of what may be regarded as known astrological facts; and secondly, an explanation as to how these facts affect human life. It is this that I have aimed at giving him. An endeavour is made not to neglect the theoretical aspects of Astrology, for the modern student dislikes what appear to him as isolated statements, and looks for a logical and synthetic aspect to our teaching, without, of course, wishing to plunge at the outset into metaphysical speculation. I trust that the Index will be of considerable use in practice, since it should enable the student to find readily those passages that deal with any matter that may trouble him. Finally, I would express my sincere hope that this book may be of some value in assisting its readers to grasp something of the true nature and worth of astrological science, both in the commonest and the most sublime aspects of human life. Those who have realized what this may mean to the individual are reluctant to set any bounds to their estimate of the beneficial effects that its universal recognition, in a proper form, would mean to the human race. Charles E. O. Carter

Book Transpersonal Theory and the Astrological Mandala

Download or read book Transpersonal Theory and the Astrological Mandala written by Gerry Goddard and published by Trafford on Demand Pub. This book was released on 2009-10 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This magnum opus is a major landmark in integral theory that, combining a rare blend of analytical rigor and depth of synthesis, articulates a coherent theoretical framework for an innovative astrological-transpersonal paradigm. I am convinced that Gerry's visionary work will continue challenging and redefining transpersonal studies for decades to come. Jorge N. Ferrer, author of Revisioning Transpersonal Theory: A Participatory Vision of Human Spirituality _________________________________________________________ The posthumously published Transpersonal Theory and the Astrological Mandala: an Evolutionary Model offers a transpersonal synthesis an account of history, culture and consciousness mapped in terms of the deep dialectical logic of the astrological mandala. In this comprehensive work Goddard makes a substantial contribution toward establishing a firm theoretical foundation for astrology. His explication of astrology's foundational symbols in terms of the larger cultural conversation will help astrology take its rightful place in the new paradigm debates while his model, an interface of the transpersonal and the astrological, will stand as a confirmation of the concrete unity of cosmos, body, psyche and spirit beyond mere subjective constructivism.

Book Astrology Its Worldview Implications

Download or read book Astrology Its Worldview Implications written by Joseph Howard Tyson and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2021-05-09 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: J. H. Tyson writes that astrology is neither a science nor pseudoscience. It falls into the category of crafts which somehow work, though science can’t fathom why. In that respect it resembles acupuncture and Feng Shui (the Chinese art of proper arrangement.) Astrology holds that cosmic forces influence us, just as the moon affects the ebb and flow of tides. Since 6,000 B.C. learned astrologers have collaborated on a body of data which links planetary positions at birth with certain human traits. A birth chart summarizes the native’s personality characteristics and provides an indication as to how that person might fare in various departments of life. Astrologers help clarify clients’ aptitudes with the intention of facilitating their development. Natal charts may be conceived of as blueprints which encourage people to cultivate their strengths, overcome faults, and circumvent avoidable problems. Tyson’s book outlines the history and principles of astrology, then provides examples of its value by juxtaposing biographical sketches of Napoleon, Theodore Roosevelt, Empress Alexandra of Russia, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and others with their natal charts. Tyson argues for Earth’s inclusion into astrological theory. This globe under our very feet exerts great influence. He demonstrates how the slower-moving planets (Jupiter-through-Pluto) provide more accurate generational profiles than the “boomer,” gen-x-er, millennial classifications bandied about by pundits. In his chapter on Esoteric Astrology Tyson explains the Sixteen Astrological Ages of Humankind. Check out J. H. Tyson’s latest book for new insights into the prehistoric art of astrology.
