Book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Some Slot Antenna Array Problems

Download or read book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Some Slot Antenna Array Problems written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of metallic fences on mutual coupling between slots of a slot antenna is studied. A model solution has been obtained whereby the fence is modelled as a thin half elliptic cylinder. This model allows for thickness to be taken into account and provides exact solutions to mutual impedance computations. The geometrical theory of diffraction has been adopted to analyze an exceedingly thin fence, when the slot antennas are not too close to the fence. Design procedures for longitudinal and traverse stripline-fed slots have been developed. A design procedure for such slot arrays requires knowledge of the mutual coupling relation as well as the self-impedance properties of a slot. Preliminary design equations are reported in this document. (Author).

Book A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Combinations of Slot and Linear Antennas

Download or read book A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Combinations of Slot and Linear Antennas written by Stuart A. Long and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The combination of a linear antenna and a slot antenna can be used to provide a relatively isotropic radiation pattern when the dipole is perpendicular to the plane of the slot. The theoretical far field radiation pattern of a dipole flanked by a two-element array of slot antennas is formulated. The fields for a variety of relative phasings between the elements of the combination antenna are calculated and the degree of approximation to an isotropic source in the sense of the total field noted. An experimental antenna was fabricated and the radiated fields measured with good agreement found with the theoretical formulas. (Author).

Book Theoretical and Experimental Study of Arrays of Axial Slots on a Circular Cylinder

Download or read book Theoretical and Experimental Study of Arrays of Axial Slots on a Circular Cylinder written by Dipak L. Sengupta and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The radiation patterns produced by arrays of axial slots on a conducting circular cylinder of infinite length are studied theoretically and experimentally. The required phase of excitation of elements to produce a beam in a certain direction are obtained by approximating the array by a section of a circular array of isotropic sources. For the given radius of the cylinder and the frequency band of interest, the approximation is found to yield satisfactory results. Radiation patterns produced by arrays of 2, 3 and 4 axial slots are numerically computed and discussed. Theoretical results are also compared with measured results and the agreement between the two has been found satisfactory.

Book Electromagnetic Wave Theory

Download or read book Electromagnetic Wave Theory written by J. C. Brown and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-21 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs in Electromagnetic Waves, Volume 11: Electromagnetic Wave Theory, Part 1 covers the proceedings of an International Scientific Radio Union (U.R.S.I.) Symposium on Electromagnetic Wave Theory. The book contains 61 chapters that are organized into three sections. The first section presents papers about wave propagation, which includes lateral waves; terrestrial waveguides; and plane waves in dissipative media. Next, the title reviews studies about wave guides, including basic properties of periodic waveguides; theoretical investigation of non-uniform waveguides; and waves in a coaxial line partially filled with plasma. The last section covers topics about surface waves, such as a dielectric prism in the corner of overmoded waveguide; lasers and optical communication systems; and microwave and laser resonators. The text will be of great use to researchers and practitioners of disciplines that study or utilize electromagnetic wave technologies, such as electrotechnics and electrical engineering.

Book Experimental Investigation of High Frequency Antenna Arrays Having Reduced Ground Losses

Download or read book Experimental Investigation of High Frequency Antenna Arrays Having Reduced Ground Losses written by D. V. Campbell and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compact, high frequency antennas have been combined to form efficient, closely-spaced arrays having greatly reduced ground losses. Under ideal circumstances, an array of N elements would reduce the ground loss by the factor 1/N. Experiments prove that only a small area is needed to erect an omnidirectional antenna array having significantly increased efficiency. (Author).

Book Microstrip Antenna

Download or read book Microstrip Antenna written by J. R. James and published by IET. This book was released on 1986 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past few years, the concept of creating microwave antennas using microstrip has attracted increasing attention and viable practical designs are now emerging. The purpose of this monograph is to present the reader with an appreciation of the underlying physical action, up-to-date theoretical treatments, useful antenna design approaches and the overall state-of-the-art situation. The emphasis is on antenna engineering design, but to achieve this goal it has been necessary to delve into the behaviour of microstrip in a much wider sense and also include aspects of electromagnetic analysis. As a consequence, the monograph will also be of interest to microstrip circuit designers and to some extent those seeking electromagnetic problems of a challenging nature. The astronomical progress in miniaturising and integrating electronic circuits in the past decade has recently crerated a positive demand for a new generation of antenna systems. In principle, microstrip antennas are thin planar configurations that are leightweight, low cost, easy to manufacture and can be made conformal with the surfaces of vehicles, missiles etc. The compatibility of microstrip antennas with integrated electronics is another great advantage. However, the microstrip wavetrapping effects inhibit the radiation mechanism and must be taken into account in antenna design. Wave-trapping effects in substrates involve the study of surface waves and discontinuities in open waveguide structures. The microstrip antenna designer must therefore encompass many more effects than previously considered by microstrip circuit designers. It is for these reasons that the scope of this monograph is necessarily somewhat wider than the title may suggest. The ten chapters are a blend of introductory, practical and theoretical treatments and likely future developments are also highlighted. A good selection of past and current references are given and each chapter concludes with a helpful summary comment.
