And he flatters himself, that this impression, in regard to the size and elegance of the types, the quality of the paper, and the manner of execution, will be found far superior to that of any of the different pieces hitherto published, either in London, Scotland, or Ireland. The Meditations, and Theron and Aspasio, are printed from copies that received the author's last corrections and improvements, a little before his happy death. These corrections and improvements are so very considerable and important, that if any reader will be at the pains to compare this edition, previous to the year 1760, he will find not only many sentences added, but vast improvements, both in diction and sentiment, made in the Meditations; and in Theron and Aspasio, not only very considerable amendments made, but in many places whole pages added, both in the text and notes. So that the present edition will be found greatly preferable, in all respects, to any that hath hitherto appeared.
